Synopsis: Temerity Cox hasn’t left her house for thirteen years, knowing that the world outside is dangerous and the government oppressive. When she decides that what society needs is a revolution, and she should be the one to lead it, she discovers that she’s been lied to her whole life -- and that the real revolution will require friends, secrets, and a willingness to fight dirty.

I've just spent an entire morning sorting through past papers of paediatric exams, with the end result that I now know how much I DON'T KNOW, BUT REALLY NEED TO.

The only thing that's missing is my phone (currently charging). Notice how I refuse to carry my wallet around, so as not to succumb to my own terrible weakness and start spending money on things. The 50c is left over from an EMERGENCY CHOCOLATE PURCHASE which I prescribed myself as prophylaxis against keeling over in a faint during ENT clinic this afternoon.

This is maybe a variant on an existing meme? Eh. Who knows. Mostly I am inventing it because I really want to do it for all you guys :D

Killing time before a morning of lectures:

The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about one another. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

- Sadly, the dust failed to be followed by either a plague of locusts or a zombie attack (although at choir we discussed this possibility in great detail and formulated some ideal/nonideal plans of action should such a thing ever occur) and in fact the glorious sky-colour blew over by the afternoon, leaving a lot of dirty cars and an unpleasant dryness in my throat.

- CHOIR. UGH. Despite last week being jam-packed with rehearsals and concerts and parties and subsequent hangovers, this week is just as bad! Rehearsal was 6:30-9:30 tonight, and for the next three nights I have to be at the Great Hall from 5:30-10pm. MED SCHOOL? STUDY? HAHAHA.

- Meeting with Honours supervisor went well! I think he realised I needed a little more handholding and a more concrete line of scientific enquiry. I should be set to write my proposal for the faculty now. You know. In all that free time I have.

- I have started watching Big Bang Theory <3 Episodes are just the right length for a brain-break, and a lot of fun. (I had to put Project Runway on hold for a few days because, er, I couldn't sleep due to Christian Siriano's voice carrying on commentary IN MY HEAD. Bad sign. Bad sign.)

- Speaking of zombies, I've been shuffling through my life feeling not quite all there (and only revived by brief windows of neurology study, ie. BRAAAAAIIIINS) and basically worn out. But! When this week is over I get a two-week holiday in Canberra \o/ And stars_like_dust is going to be visiting me here in Sydney tomorrow, which is very exciting.

My LJ has gone through a palindromic journey: it started off as a strictly RL tool (pre-Facebook!) and then became a mostly fandom-based platform and now, it appears, all I do is talk about RL again. SORRY GUYS. My L is very R, these days.

So in the spirit of nostalgia, a meme! Stolen from liminalliz.

My username is: fahye - pronounced FAYE - commonly misspelled as 'fayhe'. I chose an LJ username on very short notice at the end of Year 10, when I had just watched Cowboy Bebop, and I basically threw an 'h' into Faye to make it more unique and so more suitable as an online handle. It's had good staying power; I'm known by it in fandom circles, I answer to it automatically in real life, and it's close enough to my real name that I can just sign all my emails 'F' without thinking about it.

My journal name is: La Fahyette, which is just different enough from fahye to not look totally stupid when set next to it, and is silly and punnish and...I like it.

My title is: broadcast me a joyful noise, which is from 'Bad Day' by R.E.M. I love the song and I love this lyric in particular, it's so strong and hopeful, and it's snuck into the middle of a chaotic chorus about counting your blessings even in the midst of a stressful life. WHICH IS RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS.

My subtitle is: ancient and naïve astronomies which is from Don DeLillo's Ratner's Star: 'a nullifying plunge through history's other end to all those ancient and naïve astronomies of bone and stone'.

From PotC: At World's End, which I loved disproportionately to its actual worth as a film due to my obsession with concepts of death involving oceans and boats (see also: turn your sail). The keywords and comment are from two of my other favourite things to explore this concept: Dylan Thomas's poem 'And Death Shall Have No Dominion' and Tom Stoppard's play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
