technology update

The iMac has returned from the repair shop! Turns out the hard drive was buggered, so it was covered by warranty. Having learned my lesson, I have called the new drive Nacio in the hopes he will behave himself better than Mai Linh.

I still want to buy new speakers to replace the dead ones. Some time. Maybe. Probably not $_$

I have a shitload of work to do today but I'm bumming around until 11 so I can go to BRUNCH, oh brunch, how I missed brunch during conference period. The one meal a week when I can construct elaborate bacon-and-egg muffin creations and stuff myself with hash browns and tiny pastries. And then retire happily to the library with my Vulcan Science Academy mug and a pile of teabags, and study all afternoon.

IN THE PAST HOUR I HAVE:

+ Read more about gallbladders than any one person should have to endure in a single sitting. They are even less interesting than livers. On the plus side, there are fewer things that can go wrong with them.

+ Eaten the world's most delicious banana. BANANA PERFECTION. Not kidding.

+ Composed an excellent Doctor Who/Life on Mars fanvid in my head, to the outline of Aria's Life on Earth and the backing of Peter Gabriel's 'Rhythm of the Heat'.

+ Decided that I do like Holtz's 'Jupiter' more than Grieg's 'Morning' from Peer Gynt, but it's a very close call.

TONIGHT I SHOULD:

+ Read ten or so articles on insomnia in the elderly and draft my Honours proposal.

TONIGHT I WILL PROBABLY:

+ Drink some wine and watch Damages and maybe poke some fics. Fuck this. I am in a very bad over-my-degree mood, and while these don't usually last very long, trying to work through them is futile and tends to make them worse.
