fahye: (test tubes (beauty in the precision))
I have set up something of a semi-permanent base camp at one of the computers in the medical school lab thanks to the failure of my new laptop to appear.

Ecology of Health & Disease oral status: two-minute group introduction written. Three out of five minutes of personal speech written. I have lost all enthusiasm for the effects of obesity and delayed childbearing on the fertility of Western women and want to go back to reading my book on tropical diseases.

Must - sustain - motivation.

*grits teeth*
fahye: (nervewracked)
What's that, universe? You want the network drive on which I am saving my document, due to the fact that my laptop is dead and someone stole my flash drive, to crash and corrupt the file just as I finish writing this oral?

Oh.

Well, all right then.

Look at me coping.

I think I've grown.

ETA: Okay, the situation is not quite as drastic as it immediately appeared. Some of the file got saved. The network is back online. I'll just...rewrite the second half. Carefully. Saving the document every second word. And yes, universe, I'm going to go and buy another flash drive :D

Yes, this is my third entry today. Now new and improved, with less whining about technology (I bought a new flash drive. It's called Smilla. The end.) and more exciting links courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] ryokophoenix!

1) CROWLEY, YOU SMART BASTARD. I will never, ever stop finding this hilarious.

2) Did you know you can put text on your iPod? I didn't. (This is probably one of those things that the whole world knows except me, isn't it? But Mel has handy links to sites that will chop large files up for you and omg, I am putting mofo amounts of fanfic and poetry and shit on my iPod as soon as Fabian arrives.)

Okay, a question. I want to invest in a decent pair of headphones before I go to America, as I'd like to be able to listen to my iPod over the sound of the plane without totally destroying my hearing through excessive volume. I'm not hugely fussed about uber-bass or anything, but I'd like a pair under $100 (preferably closer to the $50 mark) that blocks out a decent amount of surrounding noise and has good sound clarity. Does anyone (especially Aussies) know anything about what's good/shit/overpriced/pricey but worth it?

Pilots may be like herpes and may also be the Spanish Inquisition but they are also like yawning, because [livejournal.com profile] rawles has had an outbreak and just looking at it is setting ME off again and now I won't be able to concentrate on anything else all night.

I'M YOUR FRIEND Iloveyou I'M HERE FOR YOU IF YOU WANT TO TALK.

CAN I BE A SUSPECT AGAIN? PLEASE?

OH PILOTS

On the plus side, those birthday fics may decide to cooperate now.
