ETA: My father has agreed to buy me an iPod and a dress watch for Christmas, thus neatly ending all indecision dramas. (Those being basically my only Christmas presents from my immediate family, but they're all I really want, so I'm happy.) He also offered to buy me something if I'm Dux, but I felt kind of queasy at that idea, because a) it's not going to happen, the AST is biased towards humanities students, and b) that sort of puts me in the same boat as people who get paid for every A they get. I'd like to think I have a bit more pride in my ability and work ethic than that.

I said he could take me out to dinner if it happened, so he didn't feel bad. And because whee, dinner. I'm pathetic.

All right, I'm getting started on Christmas fics (yes, it is the week before exams, why do you ask?) and I'm still waiting on requests from quite a few people.

The list so far... )

Random gifts of songs for you all:

The Hands That Built America - U2. I have grown addicted to this song over the past few days. I am sharing the joy.

Genius - The Murmurs. This is from the L Word soundtrack, and I'd call it one of my theme songs if that didn't sound so incredibly vain. It's delicate and quirky and I love it to pieces.

Sanctus - some random boys' choir. I don't care if you don't like choral music, or classical music, or devotional music. This is the most gorgeous thing you'll hear all week. The whole album is mindblowingly lovely, and I can listen to it for ages.

Imitation of Life - REM. Very possibly my favourite song ever. The lyrics are bizarre but somehow beautiful, the tune is the kind that you stick on repeat and then just sort of forget that you have other songs on your playlist.
