more books
24 Mar 2011 09:00 pmHot on the heels of yesterday's post: I review Tender Morsels by Margo Lanagan.
I'm a little way into Lionel Shriver's latest book So Much For That, but I've had to put it on hold already because it is SO DEPRESSING. It's about the American medical insurance system, among other things, and even though it's an amazing book full of the sharp interpersonal observations that I love about Shriver's work, I still find myself wanting to wail in horror every second page.
Soooo I started a Minette Walters book instead, because I always enjoy those and can usually get through them very quickly and even when they're about terrible murders and twisty crime, they are generally not SOUL DESTROYING.
And I have a book of short stories by Diana Wynne Jones on the go.
And I read a bit of Peter Ackroyd's biography of London every night.
And I have four other library books sitting patiently in a pile...
BRING IT ON, final year of med school, I have fiction to keep me sane.
I can't stop playing this song. Or humming it. Damn you and your chirpy voice, Mandy Moore.
