against the odds

Today has been moderately awesome:

1) I acquired three new pieces of jewellery (including a steampunk pocketwatch because _leareth is a far superior being to all of you puny mortals), and for those of you who aren't aware of the significance of this, jewellery : me is somewhat akin to shoes : whatsherface from that show that I like to pretend that I've never watched. I bought a bracelet of red Venetian glass to match the earrings that my father bought me in Florence and the necklace that a friend bought me in Venice, and this gives me warm fuzzies of aesthetic symmetry in the same way that solving equations used to and writing iambic pentameter does today.

2) It turns out that the Narnia fandom leaves LONG AND THINKY FEEDBACK of the sort that sets a girl's hands a-fluttering in authorial glee.

3) I actually managed to get some study done as well!

3a) And by 'study' I mean 'colouring in'. Us future doctors take our kicks where we can get 'em, and tonight my kicks involved drinking many cups of tea and lovingly arranging my Crayola coloured pencils into a pretty rainbow before using them to colour in the rotator cuff muscles.

Tomorrow has a lot to live up to. I'm going to see if I can repeat last Sunday's freakish experience and go for a run, and then I'm going to go to brunch and stuff myself with teensy muffins and hash browns and eggs, and then Fabian the laptop & I are moving into the college library until I finish my lit review on geriatric depression.

I'd like to write something, too, but my writing muscles are currently a pile of limp rags somewhere in the corner of my brain. We'll see.

and I can't wait for tomorrow

I have promised myself a walk to Broadway and the purchase of a delicious flavoured coffee-based beverage* of some kind if I can finish this lit review this afternoon. It's looking touch-and-go -- I've done 3/6 sections, but the next two sections are the most headachey. Blah. (So of course I am updating LJ instead of actually making any headway.)




*See, normally I would be bribing myself with the prospect of something fun like watching a movie or writing drabbles, but considering the amount of work I have to get done in the next month, the best I can offer myself is yet another exciting evening in the library with my haematology notes and my anatomy textbooks.

I am going to be such an exciting person for the next month.
