fahye: ([spn] research is exhausting)
Brother: *comes home from school fete* They had a whole lot of Tom Robbins at the book stall, and I couldn't remember what you had, but I got this.
Me: Villa Incognita! (I actually have all of Robbins' books, but I only have a very bad quality copy of this one, so that was some GOOD GUESSING on his part.)

~ later ~

Mother: *calling from Melbourne* I'm at the secondhand book fair outside the NGV, and I couldn't remember if you have Perfume or not.
Me: Yes, I do.
Mother: Okay, well, I've got your father looking out for Scarlett Thomas*, but who else should I look out for?
Me: Um, call if you see any Chuck Palahniuk, I haven't got all of his books yet. Oh, and William Gibson.
Mother: Okay!

~ twenty seconds later ~

Phone: *rings again*
Mother: I've got a William Gibson called Neuromancer in my hand, do you want that one?
Me: YES. YES I DO.
Mother: All right.
Me: I'll just stay by the phone, shall I?
Mother: That's probably a good idea.

*I just made HER read The End of Mr Y. Muahahahah. She loved it.

Still in the book vein: I've finally hit the tricky number theory in Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid and I'd like to just curl up with it and a pot of tea and absorb the trickiness without having to periodically shift my mindset back to the vertebral column and the molecular mechanisms underlying malarial inflammation, but...'tis the season, and exams are looming. SIGH.

*goes back to her notes*
