fahye: ([science] test tubes)
Does anyone else ever get the impression that their brains can be illustrated by a graph of, say, y (retained knowledge in field of supposed expertise) as an inverse function of x (elapsed days of summer holidays)?

I start my third year of university in less than two weeks and right now you'd have to give me at least ten minutes and probably access to my neuroscience textbook to remember how an action potential works. I am also meant to be absorbing organic chemistry and physics in preparation for the GAMSAT, and attempting to dredge advanced calculus up from the miry depths of my high school education because hey! I get paid to tutor maths.

It's not that this stuff has leaked away and left my brain a blissful vacuum of coffee-infused ignorance. It's just that at the moment it's full of French poetry and the history of Western occultism and, admittely, ridiculous ideas for SG:A fanfic that I don't particularly want to write until I've zoomed through the season and a half that I haven't watched yet.

There's also that Doctor Who/Torchwood crossover of doom and symbolism and pulling semi-legitimate theories about rifts and parallel worlds out of my ass with one hand whilst constructing distractingly shiny metaphors with the other. I meant to finish that about a month ago.

I need the neural equivalent of an external hard drive.

As I told Ji: this sums up my life ridiculously well.

This post brought to you by the package from [livejournal.com profile] brynnmck that arrived today <3333 You should all probably be prepared for me to start babbling about Shakespeare and Stoppard with even greater regularity.

ETA: *spittakes* EMMY. I THINK YOU SHOULD SEE THIS.
fahye: ([sga] elizabeth - do it anyway)
For Lizzen, as requested! (She wanted 'Elizabeth Weir does something incredibly useful and amazing and everyone is impressed!', which I interpreted...loosely?) And it was going to be a drabble, but we all know what happens when I start to write drabbles.

This was dashed off in about twenty minutes, so please forgive any typos.

Everyone was surprised when the second party was announced, but John had to admire Elizabeth's timing )
