MY WORLD SEEMS SMALLER

;_;

Well, so much for the punchy acronym that I stole off some other kid's assignment in the second grade.

My Vampire Eats My Juicy Steak Using No...(Pepper)

Now what? Under Napkins?

...

Come to think of it, that's a rather alarming acronym. I feel I should adjust it, possibly with a Wastelandic theme. Keeping the vampires, of course. [livejournal.com profile] handfulof_dust muns, any ideas?

I made a new friend today. A brand new real life friend who is actually in my biology classes. I was meant to be meeting her and two other girls to discuss a microbio lab assignment, but the other two didn't show so we shrugged and decided to go have coffee.

And she's great! We talked for ages about our courses and academic interests and reading and authors and I wrote down Fahye's Reading List 101 for her (Good Omens, American Gods, The Gunslinger, Fight Club and The English Patient) and we both grew up watching ABC and muting the ads on commercial TV, and we both love BBC shows and she likes Wire in the Blood (!). And she asked about my Team Ethereal shirt and seemed really interested in the idea of Milliways. And it was nice.

And yes, this is sort of a big deal. I haven't met someone new and clicked with them in a very long time. My group of friends is lovely but quite insular.

:)

I also went to [livejournal.com profile] drealle's lab to hand back some books, and spent a while chatting to her supervisor, who was my ASC instructor last year. I really like academics that take the time to get to know you, and are pleased to see you, and will just hang around in doorways chatting to you about your courses.

And I wrote a lot of sonnets last night.

And tonight I'm going to go and see a production Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead with Tink and Mr. Tink.

My bad mood? Totally gone.

I am inventing an enormously geeky meme, stemming from my current Bard kick. You can stick it in your own journal or just tell me in comments, I'm easy.

What's your favourite bit of Shakespeare?

I am crazy about the Prologue from Henry V, but I have a two-way tie for my favourite lines. (Don't even pretend to be surprised.)

Here's much to to with hate, but more with love.
Why then, O brawling love! O loving hate!
O anything, of nothing first create!

(Romeo and Juliet)

&

Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

(The Tempest)

And...you?
