Clearly, the secret to happiness lies in allowing oneself to drink more than one cup of coffee a day and surrounding oneself with helpful people like one's kinda hot and very nice travel advisor girl (new copy of my inexplicably-lost insurance policy = miraculous decrease in stress levels!) and one's academic supervisor. Even if said supervisor does let a visiting academic from the vision robotics department interrupt a discussion, and then hand one a whiteboard marker and let one attempt to explain psychophysical theory to said academic.
(I think I even managed to sound halfway intelligent. Thank god for the helpful PhD student who will be a subject for my experiments, toss hypotheses around with me, explain things slowly and let me steal his neural sensitivity profile graphs for my seminar so that I don't have to try and tell a room full of molecular biologists what directional tuning is without visual aids.)
I have a lot of work to do tonight. I am freezing cold. But I'm no longer wavering between panic attacks and the strong urge to get my hands on alcohol, cigarettes or both.
And if I can get this seminar done tonight, I will let myself watch QaF 1x20.
Again.
Shut up, it's a healthy addiction.
ETA: HAHAHA OMG. I LOVE IT. Ellen Tigh is my favourite.
