pure unadulterated geekery
23 Feb 2006 09:19 pm1) Follow-up meeting with the supervisor of our summer research project (the social psych one) was very promising. She's amazed that we pretty much managed to pick up the skills of Honours students and carry out a full study in two months. She wants to publish a paper on our study. We would be co-authors. WTF. I am an only-just-second-year biology student, and I might get my name on a proper psychological paper. EEEEEEEEE.
2) Just looking at my neuroscience textbook makes me happy. It comes with a CD glossary of functional neuroanatomy. BRAAAAAAIN. So cool.
3) I can tell I'm onto a good thing with this 'infectious diseases specialist' plan when I do all of the required reading for my Ecology of Health & Disease lecture, do all of the optional reading, and then start looking for more. I love this shit.
4) My advanced studies course this semester is going to be on something called the motion aftereffect. I get to read a metric ton of stuff and write a lit review, learn some programming code, and run some perception experiments.
5) Genetics is pretty intense, but it's genetics. I can't imagine how it could NOT be interesting. And I think my vocabulary doubles with every lecture.
I am damn well going to enjoy this semester.
