major rant coming up...

Well I’m actually writing this at what will be 10:45pm yesterday, and I’ll post it in the morning I guess. I’m just writing it now so I don’t forget it. Gees I have been reduced to the sadness of writing posts in an exercise book whilst in bed.
I just finished Escaflowne, and need to rant to someone about it. If you don’t want to read it, or haven’t seen it and don’t want it to be spoiled, I understand.

First off, I am feeling very smug because:
1. Hitomi finally came to her senses and fell in love with Van, like I’ve been yelling at her to do for like the entire series. Took her long enough.
2. After going through a long time of being annoyed at Dilandau’s irritatingly effeminate voice (I though they’d pulled a Tohma and just used a girl voice actor for a male part) it turns out he was actually a girl anyway! Sort of. Still not sure of that section of the plot, they glossed over it.
3. I worked out who Isaac was! Isaac Newton! Though now pissed off at show for making Newton a bad guy. (Couldn’t they think up one of their own?)

Anyway, this is what annoyed me most about Escaflowne:

Hitomi: I love Allen.
Van: I don’t love anyone.
(repeat for 24 episodes)
Hitomi: Wait! I love Van!
Van: Wait! I love Hitomi!
Isaac: Wow. Their love is stronger than destiny.
Viewers: Um…riiiiiiight… *scratch heads*
Scriptwriter: OKAY! Now that I’ve made you two fall in love, I’ll give you like 30 seconds of screentime together before I whisk Hitomi back to her home world! HAHA! WON’T THAT BE FUN?! *rubs hands gleefully*
Viewers: …huh? *go away feeling confused*
Me: AHOU SCRIPTWRITER!! You made me sit through 26 episodes for THAT ending? *sulks*

Plus there were plotholes so large you could drive a truck through them and numerous other flaws which I can’t be bothered to mention here.
DESPITE ALL THATand despite the overly long noses, it was still a good anime!
Yes, really. I’m just being picky.
Well that’s enough ranting from me. Who’s seen it? Do you agree?

oh the wonders of post-xmas sales!

Showed my brother the very secret diaries, and am now printing them out for my mum, who has demanded to see them after my brother and I laughed our way through lunch saying stuff like "still the prettiest", "there is no Gap in Rohan! no Banana Republic, either!", "purple is so my colour", "go me!" etc. I like the new ones, hope cassieclaire writes more soon.
Went shopping with my sister and managed not to lose her... *sweatdrop* Damn those crowds were scary! But I came home with bags'n'bags'n'bags of stuff, so that was all good. Discovered a shop in Woden that sells cool Korean stationary, like I thought you could only get in Chinatown! Bought a ruler and pacer leads. Also bought many many many books thanks to Collins and its wonderful 3-paperbacks-for-$10-and-20%-off-everything-else sale! Including Hot Six (Yay Stephanie Plum books! Morelli! Ranger! Though mostly Morelli! Yay!) Also bought Eowyn and Faramir bookmarks. My sister bought a Legolas one. She's 8 and already has a thing for Legolas...scary.
Also bought 3/4 pants and board shorts which my mum agreed to pay for and so still have gazillions of dollars to spend tomorrow when go shopping with Maddy!
My parents and bro saw TTT and were not as ravingly smug as I had thought they would be. My mum complained about the overly-long battles and my brother didn't understand the flashbacks. But they are ignorant barbarians and not to be trusted. I am still certain that it will be wonderful. Seeing it tomorrow!
My sister bought the HP movie, watched some tonight. Sat and happily gazed at baby Draco, secure in the knowledge that he would increase in hotness and so it was perfectly alright to drool over him without being pervert-type person.
Can't be bothered to write much more. Already updated today. *hangs head in shame at being so pathetically eager* Ah well I had to rant to someone.
