fic recs!

I don't do this nearly often enough.

(What's that? You want to hear about my life? No, you don't. It's dull as shit just at the moment. The most exciting thing that happened today was a moment of GRAND IRONY in which I realised that I was skipping my Virology With Denny Duquette lecture in order to type up notes about viruses that cause - haHA! - heart disease. I spent at least an hour lusting magnificently after the new edition of Fields Virology. I ripped merciless verbal holes in the arguments of the group presenting their behavioural neuroscience seminar, which was maybe a bit cruel, but they shouldn't have been, well, wrong. I had beef biryani and passionfruit frozen yoghurt for dinner, and I am about to make myself green tea. Yep, that's it. Fic rec time now.)

'06 Bonnie and Clyde - by [livejournal.com profile] hobviously - Veronica Mars, Mac/Cassidy, S2 AU.
Veronica, in all her mercilessness, might be proud; might be horrified, too, which sort of strikes Mac as even better. This is ruthless and smart and weirdly, inexorably romantic. Uh. Kind of. Anyway, it's great, and Tris deserves love for it.

My Space Adventure - by [livejournal.com profile] skooziepants - SG:A/Scrubs - vaguely JD/Dr. Cox-ish, implied Sheppard/McKay.
And by ‘my own lab’ I mean balcony number four hundred fifty-seven, because the Janitor likes to lounge in the herbal remedy experimental greenhouse from two to five every day and hatch evil plots. This is the funniest thing I have read all year. Maybe ever. Every single character is pitch-perfect (especially Rodney and Dr. Cox) and it reads EXACTLY like an episode of Scrubs, complete with insane mental commentary and amusing incidents with botany and chocolate bars. Read it. NOW.

The Brave Man With a Sword (Le Petit Mort Remix) - by [livejournal.com profile] likethesun2 - Slings & Arrows, vaguely Darren/Geoffrey.
So of course today we spoke of my vision of our university 'Romeo and Juliet', where you kissed me and I killed you. I have read this fic about seven times today, and each time I am more impressed. I wish I'd written it. It's short, but it's about as perfect a piece of fanfiction as I can imagine - sharp, cynical, hilarious, and presenting a devastatingly accurate depiction of a difficult character. Everything about it is amazing: the metaphors, the epistolary format, the theatrical allusions, the tragicomic inevitability of the repeated history Darren finds himself trapped in. Even if you don't know the fandom you should read this, because you can pick up everything you need to know from the context (and the original fic that it remixed, which is also very short).

And now for tea and my [livejournal.com profile] ds_shakespeare fic, which I am dangling cruelly under [livejournal.com profile] brynnmck's nose but not letting her beta, because it's doubling as her birthday present. I LOVE YOU BRYNN. Don't slaughter me out of impatience.

yeah, that's what I thought

So.

Finished VMars S2.

I think I'll just sit here and...implode quietly for a while. Yeah.

(OMG SO FUCKED UP. I LOVE FUCKED UP. Also, the fact that Duncan is in Mollymook amuses me no end, because I've been to Mollymook.)

a couple more

Fahye's recipe for a semi-healthy and delicious dinner: hot chocolate, carrot sticks and tuna dip made from a recipe gratefully stolen from [livejournal.com profile] ryokophoenix's mother (instructions: dump tuna in bowl, gloop on tomato sauce and low-fat mayonnaise to taste, stir), eaten in front of VMars.

(Speaking of: Mac + Cassidy = the cutest. thing. ever. I have also, within the space of a single episode, developed an alarming love for Logan + Hannah-The-Plot-Device.)

My assignment is now 500 words too long and I can't make it shorter and all 3500 words of it sucks bollocks anyway.

(I know, I know, you're all thinking: her life is SO INTERESTING. PLEASE, LET HER WHINGE MORE ABOUT HER ASSIGNMENTS AND SPAZZ MORE ABOUT RANDOM TELEVISION SHOWS.)

You're in luck.
