plus there were so many swords

Saw The Three Musketeers tonight.

HEARTS. SPILLING OUT OF MY EYES.

That was so entertaining and so ridiculous and so everything I could ever have wanted out of a movie where Orlando Bloom clearly enjoyed the fuck out of playing a hamtastic villain with Evil Pouffy Hair, Matthew Macfayden played Athos as SELF-AWARE DRUNK TOM QUINN, Aramis was a manwhore ninja priest with reading glasses, hell to the yeah, and Titus Pullo was Porthos which makes sense considering they are basically the same character anyway. And somehow King Louis/Queen Anne was my favourite big-screen romance in...ages? ADORABLE FUMBLING ROYAL TEENAGERS. God. I want to see it ten million more times, cliche-ridden dialogue and random Americans and all. MILADY'S POUTFACE. IMPLAUSIBLE AIRSHIPS. NOTRE DAME. ACTUALLY KIND OF AWESOME FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY. LOUIS'S HILARRIBLE HATS. THAT DUDE FROM DOCTOR WHO AND THE HISTORY BOYS. THE LOVE INTEREST WHO COMES UP WITH SENSIBLE PLANS INVOLVING CROSSDRESSING.

You should all go see it, is what I'm saying. I enjoyed it so much I almost forgot we were being forced to experience it in fucking 3D.

I wonder if I can ask for Yuletide fic about King Louis and D'Artagnan and their fistbumpy adolescent bromance of awesomeness.

Oh, AWESOME - I'm planning on seeing it on Tuesday, I hear it's wonderfully glee-making.

I support the Yuletide fic.

I had all caps hearts spilling out of my eyes for DAYS.

Just.

THE RANDOM REFERENCES TO OTHER MOVIES.
THE ROYAL COUPLE
THE BROMANCE
TITUS PULLO AND HIS SWORD.
EVERYONE TELLING JAMES FUCKING CORDON TO STFU (I hate that guy)
DEXTER MUTHAFUCKING FLETCHER.

Oh my God. My friend and I have been DYING to see this, since I have a deep and abiding love for Orlando Bloom, and she and I BOTH have a deep and abiding love for Logan Lerman (though my GOD the wig they have him in in this movie is absurd). The fact that the critics have panned it makes us want to see it even MORE because clearly they are missing the point that it is SUPPOSED TO BE RIDICULOUS. Oh my god. I cannot wait.

I've been wanting to see this for months o_o

I believe I spent 90% of the movie LAUGHING ENORMOUSLY and the other 10% exchanging overeducated comments with my friend, which is basically the perfect recipe for JOY.

<3333 Is all I have to say. Oh Aramis. Oh Aramis.

Also? I approve of any and all ficcing for this movie.

ORLANDO BLOOM JUST LOOKED SO HAPPY, OH MY GOD. CLEARLY THIS IS IS CHANCE TO DO PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN OVER, PLAYING JACK SPARROW HIMSELF. I WANT THERE TO BE A SEQUEL JUST SO I CAN WATCH HIM LITERALLY TWIRL HIS MOUSTACHE FOR ANOTHER TWO HOURS.

Also everything was beautiful, Jesus those costumes.

However: I could not stop analyzing the fact that this movie was just gleefully punching the laws of physics IN THE FACE, it was bothering me a surprising amount.

Plus there was that time when Rochefort was stabbed in what looked like his stomach AT BEST, and we were meant to believe it was his heart.

OF COURSE there will be a sequel. OF COURSE. I can't wait.

OKAY THANK YOU I thought that was a little improbable.

ALSO remember how Milday FELL FROM AN AIRSHIP AT CRUISING ALTITUDE and because she ~landed in water~ was not immediately crushed to death on impact?

HAHAHAHA YES. When I saw her I was like, ok, Buckingham's airship caught her in a convenient net or something?

NO NO. FISHED HER OUT OF THE CHANNEL. Which I find hilarious because given the skillset of this particular Milady, given enough time she probably would have just ripped off her skirts and SWUM TO ENGLAND.

PERHAPS THERE WAS AN ELABORATE SYSTEM OF FLYING TRAMPOLINES NEARBY. SHE COULD HAVE BOUNCED.

I WANT TO POST ABOUT IT BUT I FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I CAN DO IT WITH SCREENCAPS

I watched the movie two times, I was also at the London premiere, and I loved it!! Orlando was amazing as the Duke of Buckingham!

Gah, I hadn't realized Matthew Macfadyen was in it. Now I HAVE to see it

I think I would have found it easier to love if it weren't for Logan Lerman. I know D'Artagnan was young, but was it necessary for him to look like a teenage girl?

Eh, it added to the hilarity of his attempts to be taken seriously.

I disliked that movie. I didn't hate it, but I disliked it. Some bits were done very well, such as the rooftop sword fight.

I guess my main beef was the way over done homages to the matrix, mission impossible etc. Also I felt that was too much at the same level of action and such I never felt like there was a climax. What I liked about the sword fight was it was so paired down, you could focus on what as going on which heightened the drama.
