clothing post for the first time in ages
Today I accomplished absolutely nothing in the realm of study, BUT, I had fun! It was bizarre! It was like a real weekend or something!
ryokophoenix and I shopped for many things, and I spent waaaaay too much money on green eyeshadow and clothes from Review (<333).
I bought the same top in two different colours because it is a magical top, I swear to God, it is a top with superpowers.

See?? MAGIC. Reduced from $89 to $15, of course I had to buy two. The other one is purple.

And this jacket, reduced from $250 to $75. I do not think it was ever worth $250, to be frank -- Review is a lovely brand but FIENDISHLY EXPENSIVE -- but it is pretty smashing for $75. My mission to own mostly clothes that can best be described as 'smart' continues! Also, check out how much volume this haircut gives me, whoa. I have a better picture of how fair-and-vaguely-curly it is at the moment:

My hair straightener has been tossed aside with a cackle of gay abandon! I have WAVES! It's awesome.
Anyway.
What were we talking about. RIGHT.
After the shopping we saw Scott Pilgrim vs. The World which I enjoyed the hell out of. I mean, I had a couple of big problems with it which I will discuss with you if you so desire, but they did not interfere too much with the overall enjoyment.
And now I'm alternating between staring at my WIP and watching Dara O'Briain clips on YouTube.
Good day :)

Scott Pilgrim! So many problems, and yet. Mostly I just love it because it's a movie about my city.

- I didn't really care about Scott Pilgrim as a character. At all. I found him annoying, a bit of a douche, and without any attractive qualities. I liked Ramona a BIT more but again couldn't see anything really awesome about her. I think her flaws were presented in a more interesting way and she owned them a lot more, though.
- The straight guy ended up defeating the queer girl with...an orgasm? Really?

Yeah, that was kind of awkward. Maybe it was supposed to get around having Scott have to hit a girl, but it was still...weird.
What did you think of the ending?

I would much rather he have hit her than used sex, that made me very uncomfortable. It's all very well for SCOTT to be all 'hur hur lesbian jokes', but that the rules of the canon universe allowed STRAIGHT MALE to defeat LESBIAN GIRL (or maybe bi, I don't think they ever specified past the 'bi-furious' joke) via a sexual act was extremely distateful to me.
I liked the ending! Knives got an apology (I would have liked the film a LOT LESS if that hadn't happened) and I didn't really care if Ramona and Scott ended up together or not, so...whatever, on that score?

Yeah, I was waiting all movie for him to apologize to Knives! But I felt bad for Knives. She sent Scott off to be with Ramona because he'd been fighting for her, but she'd been fighting just as hard for him.

Scott Pilgrim was really fun :D it was the sort of movie that was just so enjoyable to watch that any problems sort of breezed by me, in a way.

And now you're reminding me I need to do a Stuff Wot I Made post!

And that shade of red (in the shirt) is beautiful.

(Also completely agree re: Review pricing -- they have some lovely stuff but completely overpriced considering the quality. Definitely on my "only buy if on sale" list.)

Scott Pilgrim was one of those movies where all the problems I had re: characterisation could be ignored in favour of Ridiculous Fun. In any case the comics, perhaps obviously, are better as far as character and relationship development go.

Review is such a strange brand. I find the sizing rather odd, and the mixture of clothing pieces which I've seen/owned from them is rather mismatched. The skirt I bought for K (second-hand, six dollars) was Review. Plain grey serge skirt to mid-calf, with *pockets*. Just this side of frumpy, really. And yet they do tops like this one of yours. STRANGE.

Re: Scott Pilgrim, the comics are better. They're not perfect, but the movie gave Roxie another character's weak point, f'r instance.
