good sign? bad sign?

Whenever I'm writing I need a text that approaches the manner in which I'm writing, to flick through and read when I feel the flow of words diminishing, and I've just realised that what I need for this particular WIP is Mrs Dalloway, or in a pinch, The Hours.

Both of which are in Canberra.

Well, at least I've nailed down the playlist.

Very disappointed at the lack of LJ folk around to entertain me while I wrestle with the urge to punch my narrator in the head. It's Friday night so all sensible Aussies are probably out doing things that AREN'T writing fanfiction and consuming a $7 bottle of wine, and all inhabitants of other areas are -- well. Asleep (US) or productively occupied (UK), I'm guessing.

I'm in Holborn again! But can be persuaded to travel.

Holborn is convenient for many places. If the Green Carnation ever manage to actually OPEN and STAY OPEN I will drag you there to feel up the wallpaper, that place is fucking amazing and their cocktails are amazing and the waiters look like models.

Queer spaces! Yay! Today I sat through a 'hilarious' conversation about the times when people in my clinical class have been hit on by people of the same sex, and decided not to contribute my own opinion of intense admiration for the balls of said hitters-on. Myself being a world-class emotional coward with a tendency to stare wistfully at (presumably) straight girls.

Ahaha well if you are keen on the idea of going somewhere that is entirely full of very very gay girls when in London, I discovered Ruby Tuesdays at Ku (it's freeeee) but I warn you now, it is a sweaty basement and the music is only bearable if you are drunk. Although it was kind of funny watching the dancefloor EMPTY at "I Kissed A Girl" as about two hundred VERY ANGRY lesbians glared at the DJ.

I'm not a sweaty basement type of person, alas. I'm a Civilised Drinks type of person.

I figured as much. Still! GC is full of professionals in their thirties who-are-also-gay.

That sounds amazing. I have been to exactly one gay event in Sydney and it was a nightclub and I was just like, I CANNOT COMMUNICATE WITH YOU, HOT GIRLS, THE MUSIC IS TOO LOUD.

Yeah, that's sadly the kind of the situation where you're required to flirt like a scene-gay, which mostly involves - as far as I can tell - grinding and checking out people's boobs. Which was ACUTELY TERRIFYING. And this is me, "Person Who Gets Thrown Out Of Nightclubs For Having Sex In The Corner (former)".

The Green Carnation, on the other hand, contains pretty people and nice booze. And a FIREPLACE. <3
