Stolen from
apiphile.
One of my little-known secret powers is that I can talk for a really, really long time about fashion. This meme needed more questions on actual clothing, though. And I was too lazy to make some up. But you know, if you've ever harboured a burning desire to know my thoughts on pastels or wide belts or little black dresses or why leggings are not actually pants, fire away! My opinions are myriad and available for free.
Makeup
What foundation do you use?
I have two -- Cover Girl Palest Ivory which is quite light and smells nice, and Body Shop Very Pale Ivory which is heavier and also paler. I tend to use the first for going out on special occasions, and the second for cosplay; I don't wear foundation on a daily basis.
What powder do you use?
The Cover Girl powder matching the foundation above. This I DO use every day, because I am otherwise quite shiny.
What eyebrow pencil do you use?
I have very dark eyebrows, I don't need pencil!
What eyeliner do you use?
I don't like eyeliner much; if I want darker eyes then I use eyeshadow underneath my eyes and then rub most of it off. But I have a nice dark brown pencil for stage makeup, and a Body Shop dark grey-blue eyeliner that I use on my upper lid with white shimmer dust over the top.
What is your favorite eyeshadow?
Body Shop Shimmer Cubes in brown and gold shades.
What mascara do you use?
Max Factor Masterpiece, waterproof. It's AMAZING.
What are your favourite lip balms/glosses/sticks?
I have a Nivea HydroCare lip balm which I use on a daily basis. I only own a very small amount of shades of lipstick; I have some dark reds and bright reds for use in shows or costumes, but the two that I use for going out are Avon Amethyst and Australis Crushed Velvet.
Hair
Do you colour your hair?
Not any more. But I used to!
At home?
I did a couple of awesome red dyes at home, but only when I didn't really want them to last too long.
At the salon?
Yeah, I used to get it dyed dark brown through most of second year undergrad.
What is your stylist's name?
I don't have a stylist per se, but...
What salon do you go to?
...I have never had my hair done anywhere but Bentley's of Canberra, which has had a few different names and owners over the years I've been going there. It's local. It's good. That's all I ask.
What is your natural hair color?
Dark golden blonde.
What is your hair color now?
As above!
Do you have straight or curly hair?
Straight & thick & fluffy.
Do you use a curling iron?
I'd like one! Though my hair is so heavy that curls don't tend to stay in for long unless they are sprayed and gelled to within an inch of their lives.
A straightener?
Yep!
What kinds?
My straightener's a Remington. That's the extent of my knowledge.
Do you use a blowdryer?
Er, if I have time. Usually I end up going to class with wet hair and having to brush it incessantly so that it doesn't dry in a big golden puff.
Do you use gel/mousse/serum/hairspray and if so, what kinds?
If I'm twisting it back or trying to keep it in place under a wig, then I use hairspray, and I'm unfussy as to what kind. My current can is Schwartzkopf because I think I got it free as a sample.
What shampoo do you use?
Sunsilk Smooth & Silky.
What conditioner do you use?
As above. I'm not very happy with it, actually, I switched over from Sunsilk Super Shine (which I liked quite a lot) and my hair hasn't really smoothed out any further. I am living for the day I can afford good-quality conditioner from Lush.
Do you use leave in conditioner?
Nope. I might try it one day when I have money :D
Scents
What deodorant do you use?
Rexona Cotton Fresh.
What body wash/soap do you use?
Uh, whatever we've bought recently. Palmolive brand, often? I can't use any sort of moisturising wash on my skin because it tends to break out.
Do you use a loofah, washcloth or soap to wash?
Soap.
What perfumes do you use or like?
I never use perfume ever. It's just...not something I've ever done? I have nothing against it, and I think a lot of perfumes are lovely, but it's just another expense.
Jewellery
Are diamonds really a girl's best friend?
Nah. They're pretty, but jewellery is all about the design and setting as far as I'm concerned.
What is your jewellery essential?
I have three identical thin silver cord-chains in varying stages of brightness/tarnish, and a collection of about ten silver-based pendants that I rotate depending on mood or outfit. And I can't go out without earrings.
What jewellery do you wear most?
Earrings and at least one necklace, every day. And my watch.
What jewellery do you crave most?
Interesting necklaces! And pretty earrings. I'm only just starting to wear bracelets (they're irritating when one is writing by hand) and I don't really wear rings.
Purses and Shoes
How many purses do you own?
Er...none? But if I assume we're operating under the American use of 'purse' for 'bag' -- hmm, quite a lot, but only about four that I actually use. I have my Fossil messenger bag for everyday use at uni, my Yakpak fabric handbag from Edinburgh, a camel-coloured leather handbag for nicer occasions, and a pewter clutch for formals.
Which is your favourite?
I ADORE my Fossil bag. I've had it for a year and a half, used it to lug things to & from class every day, and it's only just starting to rip a bit.
How many shoes do you own?
Uh. Lots. But again: quite a few pairs live at home because I don't use them, like my hiking boots and my six pairs of dance shoes and my lace-up platform boots. But those that I keep in Sydney: dark red ankle boots, black pointy-toed ankle boots, black flat kneehigh STARFLEET boots, very old black court shoes, grey flats for hospital, black flats which have stretched horribly and need replacing, red open-toe flats from Sportsgirl, low pewter Diana Ferrari heels, high black seude heels (closed-toe), high black leather Diana Ferrari heels (open toe), black Doc Marten Mary Janes which have also stretched horribly, two pairs of black Colorado sandals (one casual with low heel, one with high wedge heel and more intricate design), black Easy Steps sandals, and...sneakers for running.
BLACK GOES WITH EVERYTHING, OKAY. I am actually dying for a pair of purple lace-up heels like the ones I saw in Naples but couldn't fit into my suitcase.
Which pair is your favourite?
OH MAN. I probably wear the Starfleet boots most often, but I'm really in love with the pewter heels at the moment because they're the newest purchase and I've only worn them out once.
Who is your favourite handbag designer?
Uh. I cannot afford to care about who makes my handbags.
Who is your favourite shoe designer?
Tie between Colorado for comfort and Diana Ferrari for class.
Shopping
What are your favourite stores to clothes shop?
PORTMANS <33 Though sadly, I tend to buy very simple cheap things from Target these days, because all I can let myself buy are basics for hospital. If I had unlimited money I would be all about Cue and Review.
What is your personal style mantra?
I don't think I have one. Maybe 'I NEED MORE EARRINGS'.
How would you describe your personal style?
Optimistically? Elegant and interesting. That's what I'm aiming for, anyway.
What is your favourite shirt?
My amethyst-pink short-sleeved shirt from Cue. I love it to pieces. Although I have a deep red Pierre Cardin men's shirt which is so Luciferesque as to be ridiculous.
What is your favourite jeans?
I only own one pair of jeans, and they're getting pretty worn, so I need to replace them soon. Finding jeans that actually fit my body shape is damn near impossible, so I'll just buy the same pair: they're Jeanswest stretch flares in medium blue denim, size 11. (Which is size...7?...in American.)

Leggings: Good, Bad, or Ugly?
What shades look best on you and/or which shades do you wear most often?
What sort of outfit do you wear to run around doing errands? How about to attend a fancy dinner? Go on a first date?
What is one wardrobe essential (or two, or three) that you're totally into right now?
What is one thing people wear that drives you nuts (plaid with stripes, socks with sandals, etc.)?
What is one thing you hate on other people, but secretly feel you can get away with?
What is one article of clothing you always check out in stores but never buy?
What are your thoughts on
yaoimetallics? Vests? ROMPERS? The maxi dress?>.>

Shades of blue look best on me, being a blue-eyed-blonde. I wear ridiculous amounts of red, purple, black and white, with some blue thrown in. Actually, you would be very hard pressed to find anything NOT in these shades in my wardrobe. Pastels look terrible on me, and yellow and orange both make me look sick.
Run around doing errands: depending on weather...maybe jeans, a Threadless shirt, and a neat jacket.
Formal dinner: PRETTY DRESS, heels as high as is feasible considering how much walking I will have to do that evening, and carefully-chosen jewellery. I'll also actually bother to do something with my hair.
First date: Hmm. Maybe a casual dress over patterned fishnets, a belt, and boots? And my hair out.
Wardrobe essentials that I'm into right now: BELTS to pull in the waist. I wish I had more. Ditto scarves, because I'm starting to work out how easily they can make an outfit look more exciting. Lastly, I'm very much in love with the dress I'm wearing in my header: long sleeves, ties at the back, looks fantastic over leggings/stockings/jeans/bare legs. Black. Perfect for winter layering.
One thing people wear that I hate: SHORTS OVER ANYTHING. If you want to wear shorts, wear them over bare legs in summer. Do not layer them over leggings or stockings. You look ridiculous. Wear a skirt. Ahem.
I honestly can't think of anything that I dislike on other people but think I would look good in myself. Perhaps very figure-hugging tops; some people who would look awesome in a slightly looser size or style have an unfortunate tendency to buy them too small. Whereas I can buy a size smaller than my usual in anything made of stretch fabric, and it tends to accentuate my waist very nicely.
Well, the one item I have been checking out ENDLESSLY at the moment is a pair of Stellino dark grey heels. I want them. I want them SO MUCH. I AM SO BROKE. More in the spirit of the question, though: I admire many pairs of shoes that I would not buy even if I had the money, because they're just too impractical and I don't have the occasion to wear them.
Metallics: I am slowly coming around to them. But only if ONE item of clothing (ie. a silver bomber jacket) is worn over an otherwise minimalistic and simple outfit (like a white shirt and plain jeans).
Vests: I think they can look really good!
Rompers: I, uh, had to google this one. My immediate instinct is NO but if layered properly on someone who is appropriately leggy, they can look quite cool.
Maxi dress: as long as it's belted at the waist and is not a hideous floral print. Though to my eyes 95% of floral prints are hideous. The ideal maxi dress is one colour and is worn with a funky belt and good earrings.

I protest that if you pair them right, shorts and leggings/stockings can work as long as you have the legs and matching footwear to pull it off =D
