the icon meme

I didn't expect to be doing random LJ memes while in Italy of all places, but the Palazzo Vecchio closed early yesterday for some reason or other, so our afternoon plans were rushed, so we had a lazy evening of doing laundry and reading books (I just finished Diana Wynne Jones' The Merlin Conspiracy and am now midway through Elizabeth Knox's Billie's Kiss, which are chalk and cheese, but both of which I recommend) and typing up memes but not getting to post them because the internet here dies sporadically and vindictively.

MY ICONS.

default oldest newest
saddest happiest angriest
cutest sexiest funniest
fave ship fave fandom fave animated
best quote best textless best stolen idea

(for reference: all my icons)

I chose to interpret 'animated' as 'from an animated film' because otherwise it would have been an empty space, and empty spaces are dull. I am not even sure what a 'best stolen idea' IS, but I stole the text on it from Snow Patrol, so that'll do.

HOW MANY ICONS DO YOU HAVE: 91
OUT OF HOW MANY AVAILABLE ICONS SPACES: 122
IF YOU COULD BUY SPACE FOR MORE, WOULD YOU: Hmm...no, actually, I think I have enough. I can still remember when I only had THREE.
DO YOUR ICONS MAKE A STATEMENT: At the moment, I hope they say FAHYE APPROVES OF AWESOME WOMEN.
WHAT FANDOM DO YOU HAVE THE MOST ICONS OF: Avataaaaaar. Mostly because of my weakness for Azula. But it's a show that is just full of awesome women, so there are also spaces for Toph & Ty Lee & Katara & the Dangerous Ladies as a trio, and I like my Aang-and-Zuko-epically-destined-BFF icon SO MUCH that it snuck in even though neither of them is a girl.
AND THE SECOND MOST: Tie between Merlin and Naruto.
WHAT SHIP DO YOU HAVE THE MOST ICONS OF: Hahahah. Er. Due to my current Awesome Women theme, ladies and gentlemen, we have an eight-way tie between the following beloved ships: Naruto/Sakura, Faith/Buffy, Booth/Brennan, Anya/Dimitri, Tony/Pepper, Merlin/Arthur, Han/Leia &
ARE YOUR ICONS MADE MOSTLY BY OTHER PEOPLE: Yes! I write fic, other people make icons, it's a beautiful fandom symbiosis in which everyone sticks to their talents.
DO YOU MAKE ICONS: I have been known to on occasion.
ARE THEY ANY GOOD: Not really!
ANIMATED ICONS ARE: Sometimes very amusing, but no matter how fun or hilarious they are I always end up wanting to stab the little blinkity things to death, so I never upload them.

DO THE MEME.

I always admire your Cleopatra icon so!

It is not a hugely sexy icon in and of itself, but it still wins that honour because of my IMMENSE lust for Cleopatra. Greater than my lust for anyone else on that show.

Cleopatra was totally hot. Also Brutus. I had very little use for everyone else.

I found Antony to be aesthetically pleasing but he was such an ass that his character got in the way (so, er, good acting job there?). BRUTUS WAS GREAT <3 I love that actor and his posh public schoolboy accent, and I love how he keeps popping up in things.

I did have a careful kind of lust for older-Octavian in all his terrifying, Paul-Bettany-like glory.

I, haha, actually stopped watching after Brutus died* so I think I only saw like one episode with adult!Octavian. I believe my main reaction to him was "wtf?"

*well, I watched one more episode after that and they killed the only other character I liked, Eirene, as well as my sympathy for Pullo, so. Back to the "very little use" category Rome went!

Oh, Rome. Mostly amazing, occasionally tantrum-inducing.

Erm, I wouldn't really call it a tantrum? I just... didn't like the show very much to begin with, so I was only sticking around for my traitorous boyfriend.

(Traitors: secretly my favorite EVER??)

Om nom Cleopatra.

*succinct*

[identity profile] spikeyboots.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
NOOOOO.

*throws tantrum*

Ok. Cleopatra was INSANELY hot, but they BUTCHERED HER CHARACTER UNFORGIVABLY.

RAWR.

Ahem.
I think you touched a sore point. Ancient Historian is cranky.

But your careful lust for the older Octavian: understandable. You realise he is also Bingley in the Keira-version of Pride & Prejudice. I laughed muchly at this when I first watched it. (OMG Jane, RUN, it is OCTAVIAN)

Brutus: OMG made of SPARKLES.

Pullo/Vorenus (Season 1): So beyond cute.

Um, "very different to one another"? I think the classical usage implies that the two things could be confused for each other, but in general slang it can just mean "different". I assume it's British, if you haven't heard it before.
