hmm

Don't get me wrong, I'm having a wonderful time with Sports Night, I'm just experiencing a bizarre sense of bemusement that I am enjoying the show while still retaining my iron-clad and long-standing apathy where sports are concerned. The West Wing transformed my apathy regarding American politics -- and any politics, really -- into active interest and intellectual engagement, but sports? Especially American sports? No. No. I am just letting my brain glaze over as soon as a discussion about baseball begins, and contenting myself with enjoying the fledgling Sorkin wit and trying not to squeal OMG HI WILL!!! every time Joshua Malina appears.

*laughs*

I still have absolutely no interest in sports whatsoever, but somehow it kind of makes you interested in that one event/person/what have you that they're focused on. And - and Danny and Casey!

I think Aaron Sorkin has ruined me for any kind of realistic workplace, because if I don't end up working surrounded by intelligent, witty, liberal and generous people I will be disappointed. He can create professional families like nobody else can.

Um, if you are at all interested in curing your apathy regarding sports, I have three words for you: Friday Night Lights. Also that show ROCKS.

Oh, I am quite secure in my apathy! I'm sure it's a great show, I've heard as much from many sources, but I have zero interest in American football culture; it has never touched my life and will never touch my life and...I'm not even interested in it as a novelty.

Fine, fine. But YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING.
