call for fandom-specific prompts!

*head in hands*

My attention span is shot to hell. I have downloaded 61 songs used in the first season of Bones, I am sitting here with my fingers poised above the keyboard and ideas dancing around vaguely, but the characters still aren't cooperating, and the only way I'll ever get to Yuletide is if I manage to release some of the energy that is currently forming a BONES BONES BONES ZOMG cyclone inside my head.

So...anyone who is familiar with my newest obsession, want to throw me Five Things prompts? For any of the show's characters, I don't mind, but I need to start writing about them somehow and this is usually a good warmup.

This icon is called 'tony & roxie do vegas' and it is my new favourite 100x100 pixelated square in the universe.

I AM SO LOST, YOU GUYS. SO LOST. OTP-ED TO DEATH.

1) The way he will always, always start to explain a pop culture reference to her. He might break off after a couple of sentences, especially if they're busy with something else, but he seems physically incapable of ignoring her ignorance. For her own part, she has often wondered if it would just be easier to nod as though she understands, but she's found that she gets a quiet rush of appreciation at the way he looks at her when he's trying to explain something: as though it is deeply important to him that they should be able to share these meaningless pockets of culture.

2) The way he pretends to be upset when she orders a salad and then steals half of his fries, but still never fails to order them without ketchup because he knows she prefers them that way.

3) His rotator cuff muscles bespeak not only physical fitness but also an excellent underlying structure of the bones comprising the shoulder joint. She has considered telling him this, but doesn't think he'd fully appreciate the spirit of the compliment.

4) The way he shows up at her door when she's feeling cranky or lonely or in need of a good argument; the way he refuses to take no for an answer, even when she's convinced she'd rather be alone, and the way she'll glance up from her mug of coffee half an hour later and realise that she didn't want to be alone after all.

5) Sometimes when they're working, or even when they're just going to grab a meal, he'll direct her with his hand. Just brief, easy, utterly confident touches on her shoulder or the small of her back, touches that bring her two inches closer to him and prompt Angela to shoot meaningful glances across the lab that Brennan cannot translate. She still speaks up against this physical bossiness, just so that he doesn't get the idea that he can treat her like something he owns, but she actually finds his ridiculous masculine territory-marking behaviour...kind of sweet.

Oh, these are so great.

Re, #3: Mmmmmmshoulders. Boreanaz has a fantastic set of those. And hands. Have you noticed his hands (http://myhappyface.livejournal.com/359841.html)?

See, I was never all that keen on Angel in Buffy. And I've never watched AtS. So stumbling across Booth was like this epiphany of DEAR GOD, THIS MAN IS ATTRACTIVE.

And I've never watched AtS.

ACK! I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. *sticks fingers in ears* Much as I love Buffy, I love AtS about ten million times more.

That said, I have a much more visceral reaction to DB as Booth. That has partly to do with the character himself, and partly to do with the fact that DB was a little, shall we say, less fit in the last few seasons of AtS. But that's happily rectified now.
