As well as babbling about this episode, I feel I should present you all with a picspam of why it was so great:

And now for kissing. Okay: my enjoyment of this was only partly to do with the pairing. I actually thought it was shot in a really interesting way; it was veeeeeery slow, and if it hadn't been for the piano music then it would have been almost unbearably tense.
"What are you doing?"
This was why I liked it so much, really. House didn't know what was going on. We didn't know what was going on (although both we & House probably were extrapolating to Cameron's husband, her way of dealing with grief, blah blah) - the only person who knew was Cameron herself. Which on this show is, let's face it, rare. And he had plenty of time to work out what she was doing and move away, but he just stood there being sarcastic and looking kind of unnerved. These two can be unbelievably hot sometimes.
This initial blocking was very laying-on-of-hands, which I liked.
Hands on faaaace.
OPEN EYES. Did I mention hot?

THE EYEBROW OF SUSPICION. I think this is my favourite cap.
And then he makes jokes about how she's a whore and she says -

Chase, immediately following Foreman's suggestion that House make out with Cameron (which I love, because either Cameron was all "hey guys! I'm going to go snog the boss and get a blood sample from him! coolies!" or he's just being glib, in which case HA IRONY). Awww, Chase. And his voice when he joked that they should have sex in House's bedroom was adorable too. Chase is just all-around adorable at the moment.
I am liking Wilson more and more. Which is impressive, considering how much I have always liked Wilson. It's odd; I can't STAND passive aggression in people I know - it makes me want to punch them in the head - but I am always very drawn to it in fictional ones. Though it's true that Wilson has been less passive-aggressive and more unaccepting of bullshit in a self-deprecating way, lately, which is...well, that's very me.

The thing about House/Cameron that sucks me in so bad is that IT WOULD NEVER WORK and House knows/knew it. He absolutely seems like the bastard who would fuck his subordinate for fun, and Cameron was at one point offering herself up to him, but he turned her down, and in the cruelest of ways for no obvious benefit to himself. The only conclusion I ever draw from that whole thing is that he did it to save her from his self-perceived asshole-ish-ness.
What interests me now is that they are repeatedly drawing attention to the fact that Cameron a)makes an effort to be less of a touchy feely wah wah, and b)she still is a touchy feely wah wah and is really only hiding it and not actually becoming a hard ass. This, I totally reckon, is going to be House's undoing. How to show a hardass he can still be a hardass and care at the same time? Be one, too, which is basically where they seem to be going with Cameron. Which leads me to the inevitable conclusion that Cameron's newfound appearance of a lack of emotions will be totally appealing to House, and then she is going to totally pwn him by being all, DUDE YOU FUCKED ME AND I STILL LOVE YOU HA! And he is totally not going to be able to be a hardass to shoo her away, because he was being himself and she faked him out to get close.

I was a bit 'eh' about Cameron's S1 crush on House, but you're exactly right: now she's hardened up and he's starting to change as well and they're going to keep coming into contact with each other, keep meeting in odd places and from odd angles, and one day the collision will have...well, I can chemistry-geek at you: it'll have sufficient energy to activate the reaction, and something will happen.
And it might not work at all.
And it might mess everything up.
But they are slowly, awkwardly, semi-deliberately, getting closer to being complementary shapes. He respects her more. She knows more than just the first few layers of him.
