Bathrooms = cleaned.

*eyes pile of GAMSAT study notes*

*twiddles thumbs*

For the love of God, someone commentspam me before I actually have to start studying again. It's a Sunday. It's the summer holidays. Studying seems against all natural and unnatural laws.

Maybe I'll go translate some French poetry instead.

Les Mont des Oliviers by Vigny (http://poesie.webnet.fr/poemes/France/vigny/12.html)

Et la Terre trembla, sentant la pesanteur
Du Sauveur qui tombait aux pieds du créateur

(And the Earth trembled, sensing the gravity
of the Saviour who fell at the feet of the Creator
)

It's such a gorgeous poem. Anyway. I wish I lived in proximity to that Keifer exhibition, I'd go at least every second weekend. And ooh, we'll definitely need icons, so - good!

Whoa. My French is at about the level of a first-grader, but that one looks like it's worth it. The last stanza. :O

And for further distraction... SC PICSPAM.

Ji told me the exhibition seems to have made its last stop, which is incredibly sad. I hope the website stays up for a while - I'm tempted to go grab all the pictures. There are quite a few (obviously) that could have direct bearing on storyline stuff. Andromeda (http://www.hirshhorn.si.edu/Kiefer/works26a.html), maybe, for the constellations and ooh, the giant book full of stars (http://www.hirshhorn.si.edu/Kiefer/works26.html) and weirdly, The Order of Angels (http://www.hirshhorn.si.edu/Kiefer/works20a.html). And the many snake ones. And the stairs. I need to get a grip.

There's a tarot deck I've been coveting for YEARS that has been out of print. I do not have any decks - it's not like I collect them or anything. But it's so unusual. Check out these (http://www.wicce.com/chastainpix.html), especially Justice. I used to have that as an icon. This is the Death () card. *flails* Also, I suspect I would give an arm to find this (http://www.antegg.com/zboard/data/blog_board/Flight_over_Manhattan.jpg) in better resolution.

*collapses*

Erm. No. This (http://www.tarotpassages.com/dave13.jpg) is the Death card. That is your journal. Totally understandable mistake. :D?

OH, HOLLY. I did not tell you the BEST part of the SF exhibit. You remember how, in DC, the security was SUPER INTENSE? In SF there was essentially . . . none. I was able to stand between the pages of one of the books.

It was overwhelming.

...SO JEALOUS. I want to stand in a book! And there were so so many that I wanted to get closer to. Stupid alarms.

Interestingly, I had that as "feeling the weight" in my mind (rather than sensing the gravity) . . . I wonder if that says anything about us. Probably just the ambiguousness of translation.

I first thought that 'gravity' was a bit too literal a translation over 'heaviness' or 'weight', but I really liked the image that it provoked. I guess it's the English ambiguity of 'gravity', as well - the scientific meaning versus the 'seriousness' meaning and the fact that they both work in this context to a certain extent.

I think yours is more clever, but mine was more concrete . . .

Dead French revolutionaries approve of gravitas.
