For the love of God, someone commentspam me before I actually have to start studying again. It's a Sunday. It's the summer holidays. Studying seems against all natural and unnatural laws.

Maybe I'll go translate some French poetry instead.

First of all HEY! long time no see! Hope things are going well for you. Anyway, dude do you dig 'Heroes'?

Hey Mush! How have your holidays been?

I actually am yet to watch the first episode, which we taped on Wednesday night. I might watch it tonight. I've heard very good things about it, though :)

[identity profile] mushi-goku.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
My holidays have been going well. I've been busy with work of late but otherwise I've been chilling the rest of the time. Just to let you know I'm still watching BSG. I watched the latest one the other day and I'm still in love with Apollo. Damn fine. Sometimes especially with this season it gets a little confusing for me with all the characters and stuff going on though. Still lovin' it but.

Yes Heroes is freakin brilliant! You must watch it! It gets totally freakin awesome and a little creepy...but you must add it to your tv shows list!

Are you watching it as it screens here? I'm not sure what episode we're up to.

[identity profile] mushi-goku.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh gosh no - I prefer to obtain it through *ahem* ... other means. I think here we've only aired one episode while in US their 13 episodes through so yeah I'm watching as it screens in US.

I didn't even know we HAD the third season here. Huh.

I like this season's characters! Especially Sam. I am increasingly a huge fan of Sam's.

[identity profile] mushi-goku.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh sorry I thought you meant Heroes, we have heroes here. I think I just confused myself!

Sam is cool - hes pretty cute too. I think Kara has it pretty good apart from the whole love triangle thing, I mean shes probably no doubt 'got it on' with both of them! hhaha. damn, I wish I were her :(

I don't mind the cylons too much either, I'm growing to like especially Six I think her name is (the blonde one). I didn't like the Xena womans character though.

HI BRYNN. I am watching S3 of Due South at the moment! Slowly! Because of my enormous love for Callum Keith Rennie!

I am also trying to imagine Paul Gross as anything but Fraser and, uh, failing miserably. This should be an Experience.

[identity profile] brynnmck.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
S3 of DS, excellent. :) Aww, Kowalski. *pets him* (Can I just re-recommend the first two seasons, as well? I AM JUST SAYING. Hee.)

And holy shit. I think I may love Geoffrey Tennant more than Fraser. AND THAT IS SAYING A LOT. (It did take some getting used to, though, seeing him in a different role.) I cannot wait for you to see this. I have one episode left and it is just... I have no words. NO WORDS.

I have no idea how I will have ANYTHING but love for a show that combines Paul Gross and SHAKESPEARE.

omg Bell Shakespeare are doing Othello this year omg can't wait

Wouldn't that be helpful :D No, I am currently up to my armpits in a gorgeous poem that Ji found me. It's pretty much the JC Superstar song Gethsemane...in French rhyming couplets. It's about the silence of God in the face of desperate prayer. It's AWESOME. My dictionary is getting a workout.

[identity profile] unravels.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
:o Oooooh. Is it online somewhere? *bounces*

I went and looked at that Keifer painting with the steps that seems to have kicked off all this madness, and promptly got "I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise" in my head and it WILL NOT LEAVE. It has been a day and a half! *cries*

On the other hand, I'm having fun with images. Which will likely be useless when it comes down to the specifics - maybe icons or something? - but I like looking at pretty pictures. So there.

Les Mont des Oliviers by Vigny (http://poesie.webnet.fr/poemes/France/vigny/12.html)

Et la Terre trembla, sentant la pesanteur
Du Sauveur qui tombait aux pieds du créateur

(And the Earth trembled, sensing the gravity
of the Saviour who fell at the feet of the Creator
)

It's such a gorgeous poem. Anyway. I wish I lived in proximity to that Keifer exhibition, I'd go at least every second weekend. And ooh, we'll definitely need icons, so - good!

[identity profile] unravels.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa. My French is at about the level of a first-grader, but that one looks like it's worth it. The last stanza. :O

And for further distraction... SC PICSPAM.

Ji told me the exhibition seems to have made its last stop, which is incredibly sad. I hope the website stays up for a while - I'm tempted to go grab all the pictures. There are quite a few (obviously) that could have direct bearing on storyline stuff. Andromeda (http://www.hirshhorn.si.edu/Kiefer/works26a.html), maybe, for the constellations and ooh, the giant book full of stars (http://www.hirshhorn.si.edu/Kiefer/works26.html) and weirdly, The Order of Angels (http://www.hirshhorn.si.edu/Kiefer/works20a.html). And the many snake ones. And the stairs. I need to get a grip.

There's a tarot deck I've been coveting for YEARS that has been out of print. I do not have any decks - it's not like I collect them or anything. But it's so unusual. Check out these (http://www.wicce.com/chastainpix.html), especially Justice. I used to have that as an icon. This is the Death () card. *flails* Also, I suspect I would give an arm to find this (http://www.antegg.com/zboard/data/blog_board/Flight_over_Manhattan.jpg) in better resolution.

*collapses*

[identity profile] unravels.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Erm. No. This (http://www.tarotpassages.com/dave13.jpg) is the Death card. That is your journal. Totally understandable mistake. :D?

OH, HOLLY. I did not tell you the BEST part of the SF exhibit. You remember how, in DC, the security was SUPER INTENSE? In SF there was essentially . . . none. I was able to stand between the pages of one of the books.

It was overwhelming.

Interestingly, I had that as "feeling the weight" in my mind (rather than sensing the gravity) . . . I wonder if that says anything about us. Probably just the ambiguousness of translation.
ext_21673: ([dune] a more excellent dance)

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
I first thought that 'gravity' was a bit too literal a translation over 'heaviness' or 'weight', but I really liked the image that it provoked. I guess it's the English ambiguity of 'gravity', as well - the scientific meaning versus the 'seriousness' meaning and the fact that they both work in this context to a certain extent.

I think yours is more clever, but mine was more concrete . . .

Dead French revolutionaries approve of gravitas.

My sister has appropriated the telly for a couple of hours, but after that...sure. I will be taping it every week because choir is on Wednesdays, and avoiding US spoilers like the plague.
