Seeing as how a) this is the most visually stunning series I've seen in a very long time, and b) I just worked out how to cap using VLC (whoo!), I expect there will be a LOT of icons coming.
It's a miniseries that covers the events of the novels Messiah of Dune and Children of Dune, the two sequels to Frank Herbert's Dune. Which is fantastic classic sci-fi, and definitely worth reading.
The miniseries of Dune itself is also pretty, but not as good at this one.
Well, I kind of took it generally. And you are so so so so good at Dune fic that you shouldn't be worrying. Less worrying. More writing sequels to awesome BSG crossovers. YES.
YOU ARE SUCH A MORON, PEN. Don't worry, I'll probably make myself reread at least Dune before writing anything, and my icons are not exactly going to win awards. Though I am getting used to fiddling with contrast until the yellow looks decent rather than, well, just so yellow. The shot where Leto has just finished kicking the ass of Alia's guards was SO HARD to icon, but I loved the scene so much that I just cranked up the contrast and decided that it could be artistically incomprehensible.
Also, I have no idea how one spells the name of...many people, including the dude Ghanima marries. No idea at all. (Wikipedia! my dear friend.)
I love the yellows so much, but you're right, they're ridiculous when you're trying to use them, unless what you're going for is that bright, bright yellow.
I'm rereading Dune right now, and it's funny how mad I get at certain plot points (the suspicion on the Lady Jessica, for example, makes me so ANGRY).
Oh, finally someone who appreciates the perfection of that series as well. I really need to get it on DVD (do you have the DVD or did you find a download where i failed? :D). This series is SO MUCH LOVE. Honest, I can't even. Also, seconded on that crush. Totally. *g*
