(no subject)

Good morning, LJ - and yes, it's still morning, albeit by two minutes. I got bored earlier and decided to put makeup on for the first time in probably a year, and now I am going to clean the bathrooms. In makeup. OH, SUNDAYS. I suppose it makes a nice wacky change from wandering around in my jammies, reading the newspaper, and making pots of tea.

When I'm done cleaning I'll do that icon meme, so comment here and I'll reply with my favourite icon(s) of yours.

I wear concealer and mascara every day, light eyeshadow and sometimes lipstick if I'm going to work, but...hardly ever anything else. Today I went with foundation and heavy golds on my eyes. I'm quite pleased.

Okay, icons! You have so many fandoms covered that I don't know. It's interesting.

Image because it reminds me of how much I used to like Seth/Summer before I gave up on the OC. Okay, so that was...season one. I LIKED SEASON ONE.

I almost never wear foundation. I hate putting it on and I don't really like that over-powdered look it gives my face. But, yes, concealer is a must for me. I went through a period of a couple of years where all I wore was concealer, powder, and mascara.

That is my *favorite* OC icon that I have. And, most definitely, season one was great, and the rest just slowly rolled downhill. I didn't make it through season three.

I do miss the McOrgy so so much.

I adore the one you are using now because it is Thom/Lucifer and will never be anything else in my head.

I think we have already covered the fact that I love this one Image ? I can't quite dissociate it from the keyword. Duality and reflection.

Also this one Image, because you have a knack for taking BSG's wideshots and making them perfect for tiny pixelated squares (see also: the one I'm using here), even though the show itself is more about the close-ups. It reminds me that sometimes the show really is about the grand arcs, the mythology, the humanity. And personal pain. And how the microcosm and the macrocosm can complement each other. Uh. I'll stop there.

* I love that scene in Yossi & Jagger, where the two girls are talking, and they're both so very different, but friends, and you can see both their faces at once because of the mirror. Actually there are a lot of mirrors in Yossi &. I don't know if it's about different facets of the same person or differences between people. It might just be about color.

* I'm sure you recognized ars gratia artis . . . a motto that I actually find problematic . . . but I friggin' love Kara's painting. To tiny pieces. It's so enormous and colorful and vibrant and living. And other adjectives as well. I had a terrible time deciding between a couple of icons (three) that I have of it, and I think I picked this one because it has people in, but I might change it to one of the other ones now.

He watches Kara and Anders (her husband)--that is how he thinks of him, first a name and then parenthetically titled--go from friendly ribbing to poisonous insinuation to throwing back shots like that will somehow fix everything, like all he has to do to win Kara's heart is outdrink her. And that's probably an uncharitable thought but it's all a hopeless case anyway, because Kara can hold her liquor like someone who has difficulty grasping her sanity.

Hee! I wonder if Tori knows that she unintentionally wrote the soundtrack for Utena. Surely some crazed fan has pointed it out.

It is my goal to have BSG fic done before 3x12 airs tomorrow! Here's to hoping it isn't promptly Jossed afterwards.

MY INNERMOST THOUGHTS, BY ME (age 22 and 10 months)

1. Anna Popplewell is ridiculously gorgeous and I miss lots of hi-res photos of her gorgeousness regularly coming into her existence. You'll note that the comments of this icon is a quote from "TGIF" by Le Tigre, which contains the proclamation "all my friends are fucking bitches best known for burning bridges" and is a bit of an anthem for me — and, of course, Susan Pevensie — but the line I quoted pertains to Anna being photographed by a zillion people all at once.
2. HOT.

Also extra awesome because RPF even though Justin Chambers is married with five kids ahahhahaha.
3. I was so pleased to find that icon, as it's like a split second on the screen and I couldn't get a good cap myself. OH FAHYE SOMEDAY YOU WILL WATCH AVATAR AND KNOW MY LOVE. <333
4. I want to be Claudia Jean Cregg when I grow up. Keyword and comment quotes are from Ani DiFranco's "Little Plastic Castle" mostly because it talks about goldfish. DEEP, I KNOW RITE. But also, um, the song is about being scrutinized and judged re: femininity and I find that fitting for the female White House Press Secretary.

1) I know that many people find Inara kind of dull compared to the other Firefly characters, but I am almost MAD with curiosity as to what her requisite Jossian angsty backstory would have been. And how she and Mal would have made things work. And I love that she's this jewel of aesthetics and luxury in the midst of piracy and dusty border moons; she always looks fantastic. This icon is a celebration of Inara's wardrobe, and slight emo. The keywords are from the Rutter hymn 'For The Beauty Of The Earth', which is calm and beautiful. Like her.

2) ........okay, injoke of mine and Ji's, relating to the fact that neither of us tend to have appropriate emotional reactions to things. We've decided that we in fact SHARE a heart, and so if we're not feeling anything then it's because the other person has it. And it's a fantastically clinical picture of a heart. We can be very clinical people.

3) That is from Master and Commander, which I ADORE, and I really like the silhouette and the colouring. It features Stephen Maturin THE FIGHTING NATURALIST. (He's also a spy. In the books. He's generally awesome.) The keywords are obviously from PotC, but they were the first thing I thought of when I saw the icon. And they're, uh, both about ships?

4) I keep almost-deleting this one and then leaving it, because although I don't use it very often it is tribute to my enormous love of Baz Luhrmann's films. Both the icon text and the keywords are from 'One Day I'll Fly Away', but the scene is from 'The Show Must Go On', which is my favourite scene in the movie and ALSO A QUEEN SONG. YAY QUEEN. I also think it's just very well-cropped, and the world can't have enough icons of Nicole Kidman being beautiful.

1. I love James McAvoy SO MUCH. I even sat through 'The Last King of Scotland' today, even though it was totally not my sort of thing. But he seems to have this clause, wherein he needs to not wear shirts. It's a problem, to be sure, but not one I actually have an issue with. DID YOU LIKE CHILDREN OF DUNE, FAHYE?!

2. These pilots were all pretty dumb.

3. I don't think I'll ever understand how such a crap movie can have had such an awesome subplot, with such sparkling grins and hilarity and pardon my c-cup. SERIOUSLY.
