(no subject)

And two days before uni starts, my printer ups and dies.

Really dies. My source of precious hard copies is now a pile of stubborn unmoving junk, from which documents cannot be forced or wheedled.

I just bought a spare cartridge for that bitch, too.

Do you hear character voices inside your head or am I the only one? *G*

OH DEAR LORD. SO MUCH. Many of my stories begin that way - often I have characters talking in my head, but it's very seldom just one. More often it's two or more having a conversation completely independent of whatever else is going in my thoughts, which can be a hell of a distraction if I'm trying to concentrate on work or something else.

SO HOW ABOUT THAT HAMLET/HORATIO.

(I am on such an H/H kick atm. ._.;;)

You have yourself a bargain, m'dear.

(Though uni starts the day after tomorrow, so no promises on how long it will take >.<)

Do you have to start from the begining of a story, or can you just leap in the middle and add bits as they come to you?

Very seldom will I start at the beginning of a story, unless I have a good idea for an opening scene; usually I'll get a good idea for a scene somewhere in the middle (or the end. I'm good at writing the end first. eheh) and just write that. Most of my WIPs are lots and lots of disjointed scenes waiting to be joined up.

For my longer works, though, I try and start from the beginning so that I don't have to continually adjust scenes as the plot changes.
