*gets rather excited*
Apparently Impact's comic shop is not disappearing! It's moving into the old Church of Scientology office. Civic is redeemed once more and I won't have to trek to Belco to get my hideously expensive Vertigo fix.

If you want me to interview you--post a comment that simply says, "Interview me." I'll respond with questions for you to take back to your own journal and answer as a post. Of course, they'll be different for each person since this is an interview and not a general survey. At the bottom of your post, after answering the Interviewer's questions, you ask if anyone wants to be interviewed.
(Added by me - to make it easier all 'round, you could ask me some questions and just tell me if you want me to return the favour. Personally, I could keep this up all night. Throw your interviews at me, yo!)
1) Can't remember if I've asked this, so I'll just ask anyway--do you believe in animal totems, and if so, what's yours?
I'm not sure what meaning of it you're going by here - I don't believe that everyone has a kindred/guardian animal spirit, but I know that most people can identify strongly with one particular animal or another. I have always leaned towards birds of prey, not sure why.
2) I remember once you said you had "impossibly high standards" when it came to partners/relationships. What kind of standards?
Oh, dear >.< First of all, I can look at someone that many people describe as "hot" and not see anything there at all - this happens more with guys than with girls, I am really picky with appearances when it comes to guys. Also, I tend to let first impressions hold a lot of sway, so if someone says something stupid or ignorant or expressing a bias that I disapprove of, I tend to be turned off from the onset. Unless I like someone a LOT they have to work hard to keep my attention, because I've always got a few things happening in my head at once and if I'm not interested in a conversation then I try and I get out of it. I'm kind of rude that way. I think it comes from too much reading of fantasy at an impressionable age, when I should have been learning about real people with real faults and instead I started to form impossibly demanding ideas about what constituted an acceptable partner.
3) What's the first thing you're going to do when you turn 18? (Other than letting me take you somewhere with loud music and get you drunk.)
If you mean how-are-you-going-to-use-your-new-legal-status, I'll probably go and buy a small bottle of some boring alcohol just because I can :D What I'd REALLY like to do is get a cocktail book and cocktail kit and some ingredients and learn to mix drinks properly. I might have to put it on my presents request list.
4) When it comes to pairings, be they het or yaoi or yuri or whatever, do you find yourself identifying with the seme more, the uke more, or do you identify best with switchy or unlabelled characters?
I think it says something about me that I prefer pairings where the balance of power is either close to equal or it shifts. I don't like relationships where one member is very much the dominant and the other is the follower. I like power struggles and defiance and just the respect and shared responsibility of an equal pairing. Keep in mind, though, that that is only true for the deep-down vibe of a pairing - I have no trouble with reading D/S and kink when it comes to sex and playing, but like the everyday life of a relationship to be on an equal footing.
That said, one of my absolute favourite pairings of mine to write is my Mordred/Galahad, and they are very much unequal in power. They're both very insecure and they NEED the imbalance to keep them sane. As it develops more the power shifts somewhat - not in how they act, but in how much they need each other. That becomes more balanced.
As for identification, if I have to lean to one side or the other I tend to identify with the dominant one, but only marginally. I like the idea of protecting someone, being strong for them and helping them when they are crying. I'd feel uncomfortable being the "protected" one because (even though of course it's nice to have your loved one stand up for you) I don't cry and I try not to be weak. I've read a lot on how guys like it if girls cry occasionally because it makes them feel like they're good for something, and makes them feel warm and protective. I'm a bit too self-reliant for that *is Utena, woo*
Okay, that was long *blinks*
5) Copout question time. I need inspiration and I think you can give me some so: Who is your current favourite original character to write/RP as? (Add a description of them to this answer ;P)
At this current moment in time? Erg. Lucifer and Jesse have a tie. And if you're looking for inspiration, you can have both of them :D
Lucifer is awesome to RP - I'm using a mixture of the character in the Mike Carey comics and my own invention. The physical design is based on Stuart Townsend for features, but with black hair and tanned skin. Very bright eyes that appear either blue or brown usually but are red in his true form. He's not too tall or large, if anything he's a bit on the skinny side, but very strong. In true form he also has wings, which are dark red and feathered. As for character, he tends to be proud (of course), confident, quite arrogant, very charming when it suits him and anything from scathing to flat-out rude when it doesn't. He likes quoting things and twisting people's words, and absolutely hates being manipulated or having competition for someone or something that he wants. And, um, he likes to sing.
What I adore about him as an RP character is the power, it gives me a real buzz to have that and be able to grind the other character down with just a look and a comment and a flick of my wrist. It also gives me a bit of freedom from inhibitions - take a look at the last thread I RPed. Disturbing kinky shit, especially if you know how important wings are in this universe.
Jesse has a great voice for first-person realism, so I enjoy writing any scenes that he's actually involved in rather than having him passively narrate. He's twenty, a career hooker - smaller than average with a thin build. Fairly dull, normal blue eyes and very boring brown hair that he dyes bright auburn - it's in choppy layers that are just long enough to pull into a ponytail at the back. Gay as anything, likes to think he's streetwise and cynical but he can still fall for people without warning and then all his independence falls to pieces. When he falls, he falls HARD. He's got a smart mouth (fun to write) and is usually good at reading people but can be stumped by introverts.
Wow. I like this game. Somebody ask me some more?

I can ask you a couple more bonus ones if you like XD Here, totally optional:
*) You've been invited to a fancy dress party! :D What do you wear?
*) Along a similar idea, you just spawned wings. What kind of wings are they?
*) What's one of your (non-sexual, unless you're feeling that open) fantasies?
~~~
Also, didn't think it was that disturbing...but I'm the kind of person that finished RPing a scene where I cut a girl open, put a live snake inside her, healed her again and went to sleep at the sound of her screams, and felt that the whole scene was a little too tame.
no subject
*) If money is no object? That's actually a really hard one. I'd like to do something really elaborate and gothic and beautiful. Or else go as an assassin, with real weapons :D
*) Black feathered, very large. I'm trying to get more exciting than that, but that's the stubborn visual image.
*) Being a popular author. I write articles about myself in my head :D It's a horribly addictive exercise.
I write articles about myself in my head :D
Oh good, I'm not alone! :D Do you do TV interviews with yourself in your head, too? >>...er....not that I do, of course << >>...
...questions for the Erin? ;-; *sprouts puppy ears*
Mmm, questions.
1) What character, in any fandom or book or movie or anything, have you encountered and immediately gone - that's ME?
2) If you could kill anyone, with the certain knowledge that it culd never be traced to you and it would look like a natural death, would you? And who would it be?
3) Do you think you could ever sell yourself for sex?
4) Is there anything (an object, a situation, a voice, anything) that gets you immediately and absurdly turned on?
5) Favourite icecream flavour and why? :D I want justification, here.
no subject
1) What's your greatest fear?
2) What's your best fandom memory?
3) How do you feel about graduating?
4) What would you put down as your "Most Likely To"?
5) If you could do anything in the world and you had to choose one thing, what would it be?
And now the ball's in your court on both the answering and asking fronts. ^~
no subject
2) I don't think I have a particular ONE, but every time I post something and someone recs me and I get randoms giving me warm fuzzy feedback and asking if they can friend me, I feel so worthwhile. Like I'm accomplishing something by entertaining people.
Also a few very memorable threads over at
4) I kind of like the one about giving birth to the antichrist, actually *g* Seriously? Most Likely To Never Have A Decent Income. Or Blow All Money Earned On Comics.
5) It's a horrible horrible mercenary answer, but it would be to find a way to have unlimited money. It would mean a life without so much stress that comes from money issues, always being able to help people who need help and not constantly wishing for something more, because I hate being dissatisfied.
no subject
Also, any questions for me? ^~
no subject
1) What pairings (one original, one fandom) do you absolutely adore writing, and why?
2) Out of skydiving or bungee jumping, which do you think would be the more frightening? Would you ever do either of them?
3) Describe your perfect three course meal *g*
4) If your life goes exactly the way you most want it to, where do you see yourself in ten years?
no subject
And I have one more question for you:
Given that you write so much, what are your ambitions of actually getting published in the conventional sense at some stage? Are you writing or anything with the idea of trying to turn pro with the help of that original output?
no subject
I would love to be published, more than anything else I can possibly think of. I would love to know that people are reading my books and enjoying them and I'm getting good feedback from honest critics. I also know that it's a hard business to break into and I may never write anything good enough - but yes, I'm writing as much as I can and TRYING to finish particular stories. I have a shocking attention span, though, so may never finish anything ever >.< I have piles of really good plots and ideas that I'd love to use, some that I am saving for later in life when I have more talent.
no subject
I know follow-ups are unfair/against the rules/what have you, but was there ever any particular story that has hit you with the realisation of "This is IT - it's saleable - I have to do it, whatever the cost?"
Dos it happen that you walk into a bookshop, pick up a book that looks midly interesting, look inside, and go "Urgs, I could do so much better"?
no subject
Oh, God, yes. Just reading the blurb on most fantasy books. "So and so discovers they are the chosen one who will develop such and such a power and rid the world from such and such an evil..." At least my ideas are fairly original.
no subject
Does that bookshop phenomenon make you more angry or more confident?
*makes large, hopeful eyes at you*
Do you have any questions for me to answer?
It's either that or write some deathly boring reviews. Please, please help me procrastinate...no subject
Okay:
1) Is there anything about yourself that you absolutely hate despite other people expressing admiration or even envy towards it? Can be physical or personality-wsie.
2) What's the one song you can listen to over and over again and still love to bits?
3) Best cocktail ever, and why. Include the recipe if you can :D
4) Why do you like to RP male characters?
no subject
And yes, I normally fear a mixture of amusement and anger at such bookshop moments, especially when looking at the stacks of historical novels. First amusement and confidence, because I know mine is better than seventy percent of what is being sold, and I only have to finish writing it and then enlist the help of one certain lady that I know who's been an inroad to published authordom to two other friends already, so her contacts are good. And then I get angry at myself because I'm stuck since last autumn at the point of having to replace one dog throughout all I wrote so far. One dog!!! Arghh!
Don't larf at my dum questions
2. Do you have siblings? (how many, etc.)
3. How long have you been dancing?
4. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? (and yes, it's okay to say "I love my country and want to stay here FOREVER AND EVER, step off, BITCH.")
5. If Lucifer could see his boy do one wretched evil thing, what would it be? (and will Lucifer ever accept the fact that Joe and Billy are OMGMFEOOTPWTFBBQ???!!!!!!!111eleventyhundred, beeeyotch *snort*)
do me! do me! (I'll try to answer. am not always very good at such things)
Re: Don't larf at my dum questions
2) I have two siblings, both younger - Robert, who's almost 15, and Lauren, who's 10.
3) I've been dancing for ten years now - did eight years of jazz, four and a half of ballet, one of tap and two of street funk. I love it. I dance in public, I dance in my head, I choreograph automatically to catchy songs.
4) Sydney, I think. I'd love to travel and see the world but I do think Australia is the best place to live. And I love Sydney, it's a gorgeous city, full of life and people. I can people-watch in Darling Harbour all day, given the chance.
London comes a close second, however.
5) Lucifer would LOVE to see his boy be horrible to Joe. Aha. Ha. Ha. That sort of answers both questions, doesn't it? Okay, seriously... Lucifer would be proud of Adam for being such a little mindfuck, and would probably just take pleasure in watching him destroy someone like he did Crowley. Except he's pissed about the Crowley thing, or would be if he was more aware *g*
Lucifer is intelligent enough to realise that Joe still has a major hold on Billy, but he HATES competition. As long as he wants Billy for something, he will not stand for Joe being in the way. He's not fussed about the other times, though, though he thinks Billy is insane for putting up with being treated like shit.
Re: Don't larf at my dum questions
Re: #5 - I went to comment about this earlier to you on MSN and didn't realize I'd been booted, and then you were gone. *sob* Seriously, I would like to set up some sort of plotting with Lucifer and Adam, I think that could be really really interesting. *plots like a mad plotting thing*
Good luck on your exams!
Re: Don't larf at my dum questions
...not exams. I make mountains out of molehills sometimes. Just tests, 20% ones >.<
The first of which was shocking, by the way *headdesk*
What would you ask God?
Who would you have dinner with, out of anyone alive or dead?
What was the last book that blew your mind?
Where do you see yourself in ten years time?
Has anyone got it right yet? Does it really matter what people believe, if they try and live well?
Oscar Wilde. 'Cept he'd probably hate me. Um. The Milliways crowd!
The first volume of Sandman. Sure it counts as a book.
I'd liking to be working in psychiatry or forensic psychology or maybe even clinically... and I'd love to have something published by then, but that's more of a daydream than an actuality.
2) What job do you think you'd be good at, even if you'd hate it? And what would you love to do but don't think you'll ever get the chance?
3) What are the first things you notice about someone when you meet them in real life? Over the Net?
4) Who's your favourite Milliways chara to RP? *g*
1) If you had to get a tattoo, what would you get, where would you get it, and why?
2) What was the first fanfic you ever wrote? Describe in hideous detail.
3) Do you think first-person, second-person or third-person is hardest to write? Why?
4) If you had huge amounts of money to blow on clothes, what sort would you buy?
5) If you had to listen to one song for the rest of eternity, what would it be?
1. What's the first "real" book you remember reading?
2. Would you, in actuality, accompany me on a road-bike trip around the entire circumference of Australia, a la National Geographic? Is circumference even the word I mean hear? Would you accompany me into the outback so that I could turn to you and say in a perfect British accent, "Oh Felicia. Where the fuck are we?"
3. That was a lot of questions. What would you want on your tombstone?
4. Do you still have any nascent pieces of writing from when you were but a shakespearelet? and if so, would you ever show them to anyone in a million years? And what are they like?
...ball's in your court, babe.
no subject
2. Fuck yes, if I had the time and money. That sounds like great fun. Yes, I think circumference is the word you were looking for. Yes, I'd be more than happy to do the frock-on-a-rock thing, though without cock. For obvious reasons.
3. A quote by someone more witty than me. I'd probably agonise over it for months. At the moment I'm in love with this one by John Milton - "Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music."
4. Ooh, yes. I have a couple in notebooks, from when I was REALLY young, one about a girl going to London to search for her dead brother's horse and another about a girl who adopted a galah (um, native parrot). As for typed-up stuff, I started an epic fantasy quartet which still has plot and character elements that I like. It was quite good for age thirteen, but I look back on it now and wince slightly. Sure, I'd show people *shrugs* As long as I could then shove my latest stuff under their nose and say LOOK IMPROVEMENT!
Questions for j00:
1) Explain your username. Feel free to quote The Princess Bride heavily.
2) What one thing about fandom/LJ pisses you off more than anything else?
3) What's your favourite memory from under the age of fifteen?
4) Shameful sekrit celebrity crush?
(only with questions that can be posted on my livejournal, mind)
questions:
1) what is your favourite stuffed toy?
2) in DOLLARS, what sort of salary would you want to get to consider yourself "fulfilling your potential" in that respect?
no subject
2) That's a really hard one, because I don't have much of an idea of what salaries are typical for what pay brackets. And it really depends on the job I get - if I could keep myself just by writing, I wouldn't care if I was only making just enough to scrape by.
And now, your questions:
1) If you could be a famous singer, what sort of image/message would you try to portray? Who are your role models in that industry?
2) I used this for someone else, but I like the question. Describe your perfect three course meal.
3) What, in your opinion, is the best Disney movie?
4) Most attractive people, celebrity or not. Male and female.
have actually spent time working out what scores i will need to get this semester in order to get 99 by mrs bartley's aggregate thingy sheet. the most self-defeating procrastination EVER. (in that the conclusion i am left with is MUST WORK NOW).
