*blinks in confusion* (repeat indefinitely)
Um....yeeeeeeeeees.
I just watched Spirited Away, the subbed version. (Thank you Eugenie) Glad it was in Japanese but sure the animation quality would have been better on the big screen.
But the plot!!!! I got the basic gist, but some stuff was just... what? Huh? By the end I was just nodding vaguely and not even trying to understand what some of it meant. If anyone is feeling charitable and kind and hasn't got much to do, would they like to comment and tell me what the hell was with that Kaorashi (or whatever) thingo, you know, the weird floaty black thing with the mask. Also the whole "rules of the game" thing at the end, and how Haku connects to Chihiro's past. Something about a river...?
Haku was quite nice (a bit young to drool over without feeling twinges of cradle-snatching guilt, though) despite the helmet-like haircut that made him look like someone out of Rupert.
Did anyone watch that??? Rupert? The weird animated white bear? There was a character (unfortunately a girl) called Tiger Lily who looked disturbingly like Haku.
And yes, the ending left a bit to be desired. But it was still good. Was it made by the same ppl who made Princess Mononoke? The style looks similar.
Bushfires update:
Very glad to hear that most of you (as far as I know) are alive. For those who are interested, Maddy, Sam Siripol and Annie are all fine. Not sure about Eugenie and Liz. And no, Mel, I was not updating from a hospital yesterday :-) I was updating from my house. And now I am updating from the coast. If any fires hit Red Hill, our house is on its own.
Note for Eugenie and Liz: Was watching Gravitation. Discovered Yuki has earring! Richlen is turning into Yuki!!!! Gaaaaaaaaaa.... Not supposed to be happening. Maybe I should change something. Oh yes, Eugenie I posted another chapter of Quindlemire, too. More bratty Child-Emperor-ness for Astaroth :-)
Hmm need to look at others' LJs to know what to say now. Liz, damn you for spoiling the Draco Trilogy for me!!! Grrrr!!! Am also now determined to reread Darkfall and then buy Darksong so that I can keep up with the online squealing.
Quiz time, thank you Teegs:

Oh, so THAT'S what that bump in the road was...

What's your Inner European?

If you say so! Funny, though - I AM actually European. Well, English. Damn this pervasive Japanese culture and its all-too-willing missionaries... (ie. us) Hehe. I will say that Asian food is FAR superior though.
Dammit. Having vegetarian sushi cravings now.
Not coming back to Canberra until Friday :-( Most annoying.
