bookworm fail
This is depressing. I'm this close to abandoning a book without any intention of finishing it, which I can't ever remember doing before. But Ben Okri's The Famished Road may have defeated me. I CAN'T DO IT. It's just too much dense poetic same-old same-old short sentence plotless yet vaguely attractive rambling. Maybe if I read one chapter per week I'd manage it. But there are far too many other books that I am itching to read in the meantime, and I'm trying to persuade myself that actually enjoying the act of reading is more important than my strong completionist urge. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't a Booker Prize winner, and therefore on my reading-project list. Ugh. It's not at all a BAD book, it's just miles and miles away from what I want to read right now, and it's about 300 pages too long.
Another longish day today, 9-6. And I've been warned that this Thursday will involve FOUR joint replacement surgeries in a row.
Luckily, I am taking Friday off to flee to Sydney for the weekend! I will be reunited with
ryokophoenix and King Street Thai food and many other claims that the city has on my heart :)
PS. HOW GREAT IS COMMUNITY RECENTLY. YOU GUYS. THE VALENTINES DAY ONE. OMG. TROY.

Is cool, though. I know how fleeting-sydney-visits go. :)
