I think [livejournal.com profile] apiphile and I have fairly similar ideas about what constitutes a good Sunday afternoon: shitloads of delicious food, hot alcoholic drinks, wandering past stupidly attractive bits of London, and talking about writing a lot.

SO...SUCCESS.

I am feeling more positive about a couple of my original ideas, now! Which probably means I should kick my stupid Merlin AU in the ass until it is DONE and I can FORGET ABOUT IT and move on to happily writing about people that I've made up.

Congratulations on the success!

How is the AU going, if I may ask? Is it actually being written linearly, or not at all?

Hahah. Ha. Ha. Inasmuch as it is being written, it is being written linearly for the most part; a lot of it exists, but not enough in linear order for the next chapter to be posted. I feel terrible about my lack of work on it, but at the same time I haven't seen any Merlin since S1, haven't read any fic for it or felt fannish about it for over a year... my motivation is just so low and there are so many other things I'd rather be writing on, that every time I open the document and get a few sentences down, I am overcome with resentment. Which I'd probably be able to swallow if it were my job, but I like to think of writing as an enjoyable hobby, and so I tend to get tetchy whenever I find myself resenting it.

UGH. I wish I felt like writing it. I would be so proud of myself if I could get it done.

I see. I'm sorry you're having trouble. I'm curious, is there any reason you haven't seen the later seasons, and do you think it might help to watch an episode? I don't know what works for you, but I am selfish enough to hope that you start to like writing it enough to finish it. On the other hand don't, you know, torture yourself or anything.

I haven't seen them largely because people I trust told me the quality (such as it ever was...) went down a lot from S1, and I don't have a lot of free time for TV so I have to be quite selective about what I watch. Also, acquiring episodes at the moment involves getting people to send me burned discs, usually from overseas, so it's a bit of a hassle for things I don't care much one way or the other about.

Before I forget:

My Yuletide fic. (http://archiveofourown.org/works/141405)
Deliciously fucked-up Sherlock fic. (http://wordstrings.livejournal.com/2753.html)

BUT READ MANOR HOUSE FIRST because I have been dying to know what you think of it.
