Hey, LJ, get your Northern-Hemisphere-normative header out of my face :(
Bought
schiarire's Xmas present today, and that means my Xmas shopping is DONE. DONE. DONE. I quite enjoy wandering around the shops amidst the mad crowds, actually, but at least there is nothing else that I absolutely have to buy.
Yuletide is grumbling along at a snail's pace. I have a feeling that there will be a frantic and entirely undignified scramble to finish the thing, this weekend, but at least I don't hate the 4000 words that already exist.
Speaking of procrastination from Yuletide: I HAVE FINISHED ALL THE EPISODES OF FRINGE THAT I HAVE. TRAGEDY. I want many, many icons of Olivia Dunham but that would require deleting ALL of my uploaded (currently inactive) icons, and -- noooo. I am not ready to let go. Even though I can't even use them. They are too beautiful. (SIGH, FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS.)

Last year my gift story was 10,00 words. I'm trying to decide if rereading it should be a reward or a procrastination technique.

4,000 words doesn't sound especially snail-like from here, but then it's always hard to gauge. Do you know how long you intend it to be? /nosy

Snail-like in that I can only get a teensy amount done in every sitting, annoyingly. As for final length, um... current estimate says it'll probably end up around the 7000 word mark, but I am notoriously bad at judging final word counts. So much of it depends on what happens during the writing process.

7000-ish words? Whew. I get what you mean about how it varies, though; I can never judge at all beyond "it's going to eat my life."

I now feel it a personal shortcoming that I cannot enliven your wassail with more hawt lady doctors from the land where it is now summer and your festive holiday platters will have grill-charred things upon them.

It's true, that would indeed enliven my wassail, but I suppose I will content myself with eating way too many chipolatas.
