Hello, everyone delicious-ing my 24,000 word story without bothering to leave so much as a five-word comment on the post itself. YEAH, I CAN SEE YOU.

*grumps*

My day has been delightful otherwise: I am 3/4 of the way through Gaudy Night (HARRIET VANE <3 WHY AREN'T THERE HUNDRED OF BOOKS NARRATED BY HER?) and I now have some bought-on-sale red Colorado flats for wearing at hospital in the warm weather. I'm wearing them around the house so that the right shoe stretches out from an 8.5 to a 9, because my feet are conveniently asymmetrical.

Yuletide progress: 730 words. I'm not sure why my wonderful idea is refusing to translate into actual words, but it's irritating.

I'M SORRY! I love your fic. It is wonderful and lovely and I adore, adore, adore your characterization and ideas aaaand I keep meaning to reread so I can quote all the awesome things I like back at you.

And then work killed my brain.

My brain isn't functioning optimally at the moment either :)

December = brains on holiday, I've decided. At least, mine would like to be on holiday.

I absolutely would! Though I fear it may be a bit on the chilly side for punting.

[identity profile] dr-biscuit.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
This might tragically be true :(

But there can nevertheless be appreciation of architecture and visits to pubs!

Hells yes! Not to mention the site of 'Shrewsbury' college, and a very special portrait in the Balliol buttery.

I did love her apology to Balliol for stealing its cricket ground in order to plant an imaginary college on it :D

OH GOD WELCOME TO MY LIFE. I haven't read yours yet, it's sitting in my "bribe pile" of Firefox tabs. :(

Yuletide progress: 730 words.

730 words more than I've managed, my friend. :(

Your life sounds like a very special kind of hell at the moment :( Best of luck with it all.

Rest assured that when I get to read your fic that I have been WAITING FOR ALL THIS TIME I will be commenting like I have comment tourette's. And I'm sorry no one else in fandom has any goddamn manners.

Hello! I friended you after reading your marvelous Inception fic (The Manor House was amazing in more ways than I can properly articulate) and now you're talking about Dorothy Sayers and Diana Wynne Jones. How are you so awesome?? :)
ext_21673: ([science] dr fahye needs coffee)

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I am less awesome and more 'reads too much of EVERYTHING', but thank you :) I believe someone on LJ recommended the Sayers books to me in the first place.

[identity profile] laria-gwyn.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
But reads too much of everything = awesome. :D

I'm actually trying to work my way through all of the Wimsey books right now in order. I've just started Unnatural Death. :)

I am 3/4 of the way through Gaudy Night (HARRIET VANE <3 WHY AREN'T THERE HUNDRED OF BOOKS NARRATED BY HER?)

Harriet Vane!!!! She's wonderful.

Yuletide progress: 730 words. I'm not sure why my wonderful idea is refusing to translate into actual words, but it's irritating.

It'll happen.

She's completely wonderful, and the way Sayers writes her makes those books much more intensely personal, I think. The scene with the chess pieces made me feel awful inside :(

[identity profile] sour-idealist.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
The Manor House? It's a shame, I'm sorry. (I've been saving it until I actually see Inception, but I am going to read it then!)

Is this a good time to mention that I have been reading miss the train before and I think it is beautiful and many, many times better-written than canon, but I didn't want to comment because I didn't want to make it sound like I was trying to guilt-trip you into writing the next chapter?
ext_21673: ([inc] these small hours still remain)

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, goodness, definitely don't read it without having seen the film. I was more feeling grumpy towards people who save it with bookmark-comments that make it obvious they HAVE read it.

It probably IS a good time to mention it, because I feel massively guilty about that story and absolutely intend to finish it. I have 2000 words of the next chapter written and everything!

[identity profile] sour-idealist.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. I get that some people have trouble giving feedback for whatever reason, but if you're going to write a comment, post it, people.

And I'm sorry, I was hoping not to do anything to increase guilt. 2000 words sounds exciting, though. And I honestly cannot accurately express how much I love that story.

Also, since I forgot to say this earlier, good luck with Yuletide!
