Let's face it, I am nowhere near solvent or expert enough to be one of those people who blogs informatively about cosmetics that they buy, but I went wandering around Kmart in anticipation of being paid to be a subject in a neuro research study on Friday ($___$) and I bought the Blue Tiger nailpolish from Australis and it's GORGEOUS. Darkish cerulean, no streaks or glugs (fuck you very much, Revlon), dries matte -- which I love -- but can be given the shiny-wet look with a basic topcoat*. I have it on my thumbnail and I keep staring at it and wishing I didn't have to remove it (nailpolish is for weekends only, sigh).
I almost went for Peek-A-Boo but it's a more pinkish purple than the website suggests, and honestly I never wear pastels, so even though it's nice it's not at all me. Whereas this blue, OH YES, just what I wanted. Now I'm holding out to get a good green from OPI when I'm next in Canberra.
*Hmm, can anyone recommend a matte-finish protective topcoat that isn't too pricy?

Not this one, I bet you. But I'll have a look for it when I'm back in Canberra, thanks! (Your blog is terrible for me, TERRIBLE, I keep making mental lists of things I will buy when I am a doctor.)

If you tell me what sort of green you're after I may be able to offer sage advice. I buy a lot of green but rarely wear it, leading to a drawer overflowing with everything from mint to midnight green. Good reference selection!
