Okay so I'm almost finished reading Wolf Hall

so I thought:

I will finally try watching The Tudors!

...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Basically I have been Cromwell-brainwashed and now I'm a bit perplexed because somehow I am meant to take Jeremy Northam seriously as Thomas More The Benevolent And Admirable Person, and I am apparently supposed to...not like...Cardinal Wolsey? Whatever, Sam O'Neill is doing something really quite close to the Wolsey that Mantel portrays, so I am rooting for him the whole way. Wooooooo Wolsey! Kick some underhanded diplomatic butt!

Also, Thomas Tallis <3 and Katherine of Aragon <33 and Buckingham's delicious northern accent <333

All in all, this is hilarious trash dressed up in pretty clothes and I am merrily inserting my own politics between all the sex scenes.

(WHERE ARE YOU, CROMWELL, COME AND BE AWESOME ON MY SCREEN.)

I spent most of the time Jeremy Northam was onscreen crooning "Oh come on--sin a little! With me! I won't tell anyone!" Historical accuracy goes by the wayside when JN is there looking gently mournful and in need of cuddling. But Cromwell is indeed totally awesome.

I agree, this show is so hilariously terrible. Hilarrible, to steal from another friend. Just wait till Anne and Henry start really chewing scenery.
