Okay, I am probably enough on top of my stress levels to break hiatus.

THIS JUST IN: surgery is exhausting. And smelly. And -- kind of boring. Clearly I am not cut out to be Cristina Yang :(

ALSO JUST IN: I was idly procratinating by clicking around my folder of old, hilariously bad aborted novels, and I had the epiphany that one of them would be COMPLETELY AWESOME if I changed the primary male character to a female character (and thus the main relationship to a snarky lesbian romance!). I believe in that story's potential, it has three concurrent plots and jewellery theft and a fairy revolution and Punishment By Paperwork and a small pantheon of absent-minded gods. And many arguments about fashion. It would be ideal for a NaNo project if that were ever, ever likely to happen.

Right?? The main character is an overexcitable con artist who manages to piss off the monarchy and the gods, and get coerced into being the human ally of a faery general trying to stage an uprising, all in the space of a week. Suddenly she's being taught some enforced object lessons about a Sense Of Responsibility, and she never stops complaining -- loudly -- about this.

The other character is an illegitimate princess who's training to be a bountry hunter, is obssessed with her personal tailor's ability to make kickass trousers that still flatter her legs, and is employed to bring the con artist to justice.

Both characters are demigoddesses, but this is not as helpful as you might think, because they are eighteen years old and their respective immortal parents are so embarrassing omg.

Also, there is a talking cat.
