things

* Did you know that if you search for 'fic' on delicious, Quickening Days turns up in the top ten links? O_O That's -- that's something. That is perilously close to Famous On The Internet.

* It's been a nice weekend. I did a very small amount of uni work, I read Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go cover-to-cover (<333! I recommend it), I did some grocery shopping that included a small amount of comfort shopping in the form of Max Factor eyeshadow, and tonight I went to intercollege postgrad drinkies and had a lot of champagne and met some new people.

* Plus, the weekend began on Friday night with [livejournal.com profile] _leareth and [livejournal.com profile] armyofone: Greek dips and kangaroo pizza in the Rocks, King Lear at the Sydney Opera House (definitely not my favourite production of Bell Shakespeare's by a long shot, but it had some really excellent design aspects and John Bell's Lear was just phenomenal), and drinks at the Opera Bar afterwards. Every time I think I might want to move back to Canberra, along comes a night like that, sipping cocktails in a warm breeze and watching the lights of the Harbour Bridge dance off the water. &SYDNEY;

* I love this icon <3 It's Nicole Kidman in Birthday Girl, one of the two overtly kinky films I own (the other being, of course, Secretary). I only own BG on VCR, though (I know! ancient!) so I think I need to rewatch it when I'm next at home.

* 7:30am head & neck surgery meeting tomorrow. Only bearable because they provide pastries.

Okay, I know that Birthday Girl has Vincent Cassel (AND MATHIEU KASSOVITZ, sorry Mathieu I love you too), but I have been to afraid to watch it because I was worried it would suck. However, I gather you think it's worth watching?

Well, I haven't watched it in a long time but I remember enjoying it hugely. (This is not a promise of QUALITY.) It's got the blend of quirky romance and random action that I love in films (like Bandits).
