I think I can honestly say I have never welcomed a weekend more. Tonight I am going to sleep for as long as my body wants and then try to knock over all my uni work (ahahaha) before 2pm, when I will be preparing for...

...the 2010 Mardi Gras Parade! This is my third year in Sydney but only my first Mardi Gras, and as![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
_leareth has pointed out, there's no better way to be introduced to one of the most extravagant and famous street parades in the world than by participating in it. So I'll be donning a pink wig and a black dress (and comfortable shoes) and dancing around behind the float of a gay & lesbian rights lobby group. Maybe I will get to make out with random girls on the street. Apparently that is a thing that can happen.
Plus, parade participants get free entry to the Carnival which is basically an insane disco afterparty. WOO. PARTY.

Also of note: today is the birthday of my beloved fake sisterryokophoenix! I have nothing to offer her except this publicly aired appreciation of her presence in my life; it's nice to have someone around who will waltz in bearing grapes and set up camp on my couch for an evening of watching QI and talking about everything from travel to research woes to Top Gear to psychology to cosplay to Star Trek fanfic. We confuse and scare people at dinner by babbling in a fluent dialect of Geek born out of shared history and knowing each other way, way too well :D
