you hold every card

We watched my Andrew Lloyd Webber Celebration Concert DVD last night and I was reminded of the existence of this, which is my favourite performance of my favourite song from any musical. Really. No hyperbole. This is my favourite song, and Michael Ball takes the sound and the lyrics and just -- flies with them. It's almost painful. No matter how many times I watch it, it makes my mouth dry and my skin feel like the nerves have been laid bare.

Watch it.

Holy shit, that was awesome. Way more personality than the Michael Crawford version I have, and that version is on my Most Played list.

Oh, that is just brilliant.

I have to thank you - because of this link I've spent the morning rewatching all the JCS numbers on YouTube (where I also found this version of Gethseane (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-rre_BXxC0) which I hadn't heard before...wow). Possibly the best way to spend a Sunday morning, so thanks *g*

Sorry, one more thing - one of the most amazing things about the different versions of this song is how each picks up on different emotions. Here you feel the anger and frustration. In others it's more sorrow, or questioning. Just shows you how fantastic the song is that it can hold so many different feelings. Wow.
