The only redeeming thing about this essay is that it can loosely be construed as policy recommendations for state governments, so my West Wing-saturated mind can pretend that it's composing a terribly important political document.

I will still never be as awesome as CJ Cregg, favourite fictional character of all time, but a girl can dream.

You can pretend the right-wing nuts want to tear away all the protections, and it is only your determination and sparkling policy that will save the day. Maybe you should wear a suit while you draft it.

Heh, 'sparkling policy'. With such shining gems as: However, there is a need to wait for data to emerge following the 2007 changes so that further decisions can be made, and recommendations for other states given, on the evidence of their efficacy.
