Aaaaand Lee Adama:

1) He can't separate sex and emotional attachment no matter how much he'd wish it otherwise.

2) Sex with Dee had a lot to do with trying to please her, because he was never able to entirely convince himself that he was doing the right thing by her, so he wanted to make it as good as possible. Sex -- and all the outmaking/groping/truncated foreplay -- with Kara, was a lot more about connecting. It was more selfish. And because he didn't overthink it as much, it was a lot better.

3) The rebellious part of him has always had a tendency to come up with fantasies to do with behaviour inappropriate in a military setting. When the world ended, they became kind of redundant -- EVERYTHING was a military setting -- but he still got a thrill out of the idea of ripping off dress uniforms, frakking in the ready room, that kind of thing. Spilling some life and indecency over their restrictive life.
