adieu

All right, folken, I'm off to the land without internet for the long weekend. If all goes well I shall return having

a) wrestled a decent number of words out of my brain, and
b) memorised every single neurological clinical exam, with the help of my hapless siblings and my tendon hammer.

The laws of the universe must have been turned inside-out, because b) is looking likelier than a). I'm going to try simming a bit during the drive to the coast, because at the moment all I want to do is write about Arthur, and he doesn't even show up for another 1.5 chapters.

As a parting gift, in lieu of chocolate, you can have my favourite sentences from the two WIPs:

"Oh my God," Merlin moaned, "I am the worst gay feminist in the world."

&

Julian grins and launches into some lurid scenario about a captured cabin-boy and a ruthless, handsome pirate; ten seconds in Aggie gives a screech of protest and leaves the room, slapping her brother's shoulder on the way and making loud noises about getting everyone some tea.

Oh my word, Fahye; that's well, that's hilarious, even without the context (I'm having great fun imagining one.). Have a lovely trip. Write well and memorize! I will be thinking of your hapless siblings with great sympathy.

The context is earlier in the fic. I suppose you can have that too :D

Besides, it was probably very un-PC of him to even be having those kinds of fantasies -- just like the proper feminist thing to do was to assume that women didn't necessarily want anyone to protect them (and Merlin was indeed quite sure that if anyone tried to protect Morgana she would laugh in their face), being a guy and having wafty fairy-floss feelings about resting luxuriously in another guy's strong arms was not doing anything to help Merlin's convictions that he was a perfectly normal person who just happened to be a little bit gay sometimes. Mostly, it seemed, around Arthur. And Lancelot a bit. But there were probably inanimate objects that could be described as gay for Lancelot, so that didn't count.

Love it! Yes, Merlin, there probably are inanimate objects that would be described as gay (and, no doubt, happy to be so) for Lancelot!

Thanks!

When I spend my entire weekend holed up with my computer watching Merlin, I want you to know that it is partially your fault.

And I am absolutely fine with that.
