MORE good things

(it's been that kind of day, and I like to cling to them when they come)

5) QI episode 5x04 (the one with the Explorers theme) made me laugh so hard I think I strained something. Jesus. I've never seen anything that funny. Bill Bailey & Alan Davies should sit next to each other ALWAYS.

6) I'm eating pocky. I don't think I've eaten this since I was in high school, and getting all excited about discovering anime and LiveJournal and fandom and OH MY GOODNESS, WHAT IS THIS STRANGE THING THEY CALL 'SLASH'?? Ah, memories.

7) I finally joined a choir again, and spent a couple of glorious hours last night singing the second sop line in Carmina Burana. I've really missed that feeling, and although I got shockingly lost at the very beginning of O Fortuna (last time I sang this I was a first, and srsly, Carl Orff, what kind of cruel & unusual second sop line IS that?) and croaked a bit the first time I was required to hit a high A, it's nice to know my voice can still do delicious things with Latin set to double-time quavers.

8) .....can I name Irwin again? No fic this time, but the source of this icon's keywords:

We are wet with sympathy now;
Thanks for the evening; but how
Shall we satisfy when we meet,
Between Shall-I and I-Will,
The lion's mouth whose hunger
No metaphors can fill?

Well, who in his own back yard
Has not opened his heart to the smiling
Secret he cannot quote?

- from W.H. Auden's 'The Sea & the Mirror'

Carmina is AWESOME, y/y!

Also: you have QI season five? May I have it, pleasepleaseplease? I watched 1-4 religiously all summer (got them from Amy who got them from you!) and now I'm running out of things I can watch without reciting the lines.

Sure, we'll organise an exchange-of-external-hard-drives thing.

Hooray! I don't know how much of my tv shows you'll want, because you probably already have them, but you're welcome to plunder my music folders.

When I was in high school, I was in the school choir as a soprano A, and we sang O Fortuna in Latin.

It made me shiver.

God, I miss it. I don't know if I can even sing properly after having my tonsils removed :s

It's a very shivery piece, isn't it? And so exhilerating to sing.
