whine whine whine

Wow. I'm either coming down with something or my body has been sneaking away and exercising when I'm not looking, because I slept hard last night -- the kind of sleep where your alarm has to drag your consciousness out of a quicksand mire so dense that you feel almost nauseated when you break surface. Where it takes you almost a minute to work out how to reset the alarm, you dive back into sleep immediately, and even when it goes off again you still feel like someone has turned you to stone and glued you to the sheets, because moving is impossible.

Which is to say: dammit, now I've missed breakfast.

(I have a small pear in the fridge, but if I want carbs I'm going to have to venture out in the rain and find a bakery, and I was really hoping to swear off buying non-college food for a while.)

And my shoulders are so tight they're causing me quite a lot of pain.

And if I think about the amount of work I have to do this weekend collectively I will start gibbering, so I think it's time to break out the Lists. And the Legally Blonde musical, which is surprisingly the best academic motivator in my entire iTunes.

/whine! Resume life.

Grab that book and let's do this!

I think I must have Legally Blonde-ed myself out last semester, because I haven't been utilizing its magic motivating qualities this spring. I'm sure it will make a comeback come midterms, though.

I can't actually listen to it WHEN I'm studying because musicals are a bit too distracting, but it's great for listening to in breaks or -- like today -- mornings when motivation is a struggle.

'So Much Better' has MAGIC POWERS, I swear.

It really is the perfect "feel like shit? take a dance break!" music.

Sometimes I just think of Elle standing center stage belting "I am so much better than before," and I feel better. Sad but true.

I would love to see it staged; I was going to say that the sheer amount of pink might blind me, but then I've seen Wicked twice.

HAHAHAHAH. ELLE + GALINDA = KINDRED SPIRITS?

[identity profile] pathstotread.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I was about to say "I would love to see it staged, too!"...and then realized that I actually have, last summer. Oh week, you have been TOO LONG.

TOTES. (Extra funny when you take into account that Laura Bell Bundy was Kristen Chenoweth's Glinda understudy once upon a time.)

D: Ow.

Are you still thinking of doing birthday shenanigans in Praiseworthy? I am off to meet the fam now, but if you are I'll make sure I'm on later tonight.

... pears ARE carbs?

But they're still not enough for breakfast, esp for busy med students. Go, go!

Well, I mean -- complex carbs? is that the right word? -- starchy carbs! Bread etc. Okay, mostly I meant MUFFINS because in my world MUFFINS are the ideal breakfast food, even though every time I let myself have one my childhood of healthy breakfast cereal rears up and yells SHAME ON YOU.

My pear was a disappointment :( Floury and ick. So I located an apple and had that + instant coffee. Not really enough, but lunch is in five minutes, so I'll survive.

[identity profile] tammaiya.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha, I can totally concur with that. Breakfast requires something of a bready, bran-y and/or ricey nature or it just doesn't count. Seriously. And muffins make EVERYTHING better. *wistful* I had to cut back on them because they're pretty high in carbs and are thus more a meal for me than a snack, but my mind persists in being like "Muffins! AFTERNOON TEA! :D"

D: I am sorry about the lameness of your pear. I hope lunch made up for it.

Lunch was sadly fishy fish (I can cope with fish that...doesn't taste like fish...or really good tuna sashimi! I'm odd) and sadly unspicy dahl and blah. If I get a lot of work done today I might go in search of cake as a reward, for afternoon tea.

Legally Blonde musical? -intrigued-

You can do it! You are awesome! :D

(Also if I lived nearby I would totally go out and get muffins and deliver them to you.)

Yes! It's inspired, the plot and general ridiculousness lend themselves very well to a musical, and it's super-boppy and catchy and fun as well as being all about Working Hard and Believing In Your Self-Worth and all those good themes.

(Aww, hand-delivered muffins! The best kind.)

I have a ridiculous amount of love for Legally Blonde. I will have to find this. -resolves-

I listened to the original soundtrack all through uni to keep me going right before exams. Good luck with 2009. For me, it is Clinical Biostatistics this semester. I am actually looking forward to getting my textbooks.
