back to Sydney

This one looks like my kind of meme:

Comment with a story I've written, and I will tell you one thing I knew, learned, or wondered about while writing the story that didn't make it onto the page.

You guys go to town on that, it'll give me something relaxing to do once I've unpacked a car full (and half a boxroom full) of my crap, and somehow reconstructed my Sydney life from the boxes.

Don't feel like you have to avoid picking a fic that someone else has already named; I can do multiple things! And -- especially where my Merlin fics are concerned -- it would probably be helpful.

Hmm. Things that I know, mostly about the future:

Kankurou is dead. Shikamaru and Temari find Gaara eventually.

The safe camp guarded by Gai's team & Hinata becomes a model for others, guarded by other shinobi. Neji goes completely blind about six months after the fic ends, and becomes a camp leader even though he is no longer able to fight. It is his camp that Sasuke and Naruto stay in when Sasuke is severely wounded protecting the rest of his team from a water attack; they stay for a year while he recovers, and then they move to another of the safe camps, one with a lot of Konoha citizens in it, and coordinate its defence and administration.

Sai, Sakura and Hinata keep moving; they map the entire land.

I also knew quite a bit more about Kabuto that couldn't fit into the fic -- lots of that went into my lastest instead :)

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha!

Susan was not in love with him (though she did let herself love him a little by the end); Peter was, to a certain degree, but his love wasn't just to do with Caspian. It was to do with his memories of his own past, and Narnia itself, and he was very glad that he managed to turn his own terrible fear at gaining and then losing something else into an emotion that was transient and enjoyable. Because forging peace out of fear is what a king does.

As well as grain storage and trade, I know that Merlin can also carry on competent conversations about botany, carpentry, the political history of Albion between the years 1200-1250, and -- embarrassingly -- knitting. This is due to, respectively, Gaius, Will's father, a book he got his hands on when a travelling salesman came to Ealdor, and an old lady who used to look after him when his mother was sick or busy.

Once Arthur finds out about this (and once he stops laughing about the knitting thing) he begins to encourage Merlin to read more books on obscure subjects, so that Merlin can have all the boring conversations for him.

In revenge, Merlin knits him an extremely ugly scarf and pointedly tells Morgana about it; she thinks that this is the sweetest thing she's ever heard of and before Arthur can 'lose' it, she corners him and insists that he wear it all winter to be polite.

I have unpacked my clothes and my computer. I am guzzling water and staring at the many many boxes yet to be unpacked and you know what, it is JUST TOO HOT FOR THIS SHIT.

Apparently the western suburbs might hit 47 soon.

[identity profile] -leareth.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Western suburbs aren't a good place to be right now. On the upside, where I am it's going to be mid-thirties at most =D also? AIR-CONDITIONING!

Hmm. It was a long time ago, but I know I learned a bit about Aziraphale's enormous capacity for anger. His fuse is possibly the longest in the known universe, but when things pile up it can become a perilous balance between dusting shelves within and inch of their lives & drinking huge amounts of tea, and exploding into blasphemy.

Normally, of course, he contents himself with having minor snits :D

Lee and Sam both recognise their potential to become very good friends; it's why they never hate each other, not even a little, and why all of Sam's anger is directed at Kara. Lee, however, is convinced throughout most of the fic that Sam MUST hate him, because it's not like he's unaware of how obvious they're being.

Two months after the fic ends they go back to drinking together and telling stories, without Kara there, building a friendship outside of her influence.

[identity profile] jadengreen36.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
You know what, the above did actually come through your story. It was in the little things, like Apollo and Sam trading stories, and the line about Sam going to the target gallery with him and being uncomfortable in a room with a loaded gun. And in the way they give each other those wide berths when it comes to Kara.

::sigh:: I love this fic. It's one that never fails to make me sigh with divine happiness when I reread it; and is often one of those fics I turn to when I need a Pilots! pick-me-up. Your fic down there TJD is another one.

It's too bad you're about to be so busy with Med School again (LMAO though I am not mocking the desire to protect human life - have too many docs in my family to make too much fun) or I'd be one of those annoyingly awful people picketing your LJ and begging you to write another mammoth K/L centric fic. Maybe when the show is all over and you're in between semesters. hahaha

I am debating between Meteorology and Quickening Days. I adore them both so much! *indecisive face* You can choose which one you wish to talk about.
ext_21673: ([mer] shadows of the world appear)

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I've already done QD, so for Meteorology: Arthur hopes that Merlin never finds out about the creative lies he had to come up with to explain to his knights just why Merlin could get away with being so insubordinate. They ranged from 'I generally beat him in the mornings to save time' to 'my father always told me to be lenient with people who are mentally deficient'.
