SRS QUESTION

Okay, guys, hairstyle advice needed.

Should I get a fringe cut?

Only I got bored in between studying the cranial nerves and the muscles of the eye, and I pinned a sidefringe in to see what it looked like and I KIND OF LIKE IT.

Fahye despairs of how fuzzy these photos will turn out because her camera is meh and her mirror is smudged...

...but omg fringe!

What do you think? Yay? Nay? Fahye you idiot stop posting to LJ and get back to studying anatomy YOU HAVE AN EXAM TOMORROW?

Also: holy shit I turn 22 in less than three weeks how did this even happen. WHERE DID THE YEAR GO.

You look like a high-school student. A very pretty high-school student, but a high-school student.

And get back to studying >:P

As opposed to my normal stunningly mature habit of shoving it all up in a ponytail, you mean? :P

I TURN TWENTY-SIX OH MY EFFING LORD.

RE: ponytail, your hair isn't long enough that you're putting it in a high ponytail that falls down past your shoulders which would definitely make you look even younger *shrugs* the fringe looks nice, you could totally go for it. I just warn from experience that fringes you either need to get trimmed every 4-6 weeks to maintain it, or you live with growing it out and endure the annoying inbetween stage when it's long enough to cover your eyes but too short to put behind ears.

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the cost of trimming might get tiresome. But I can probably get by with bobby-pinning it back if I can't afford a trim for a few more weeks.

[identity profile] tapedeck.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
If you've got the patience to have one, then go for it. They require some training to get to sit to the side and more often than not need pinning.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the logistics, really, the last time I had a fringe I think I was...maybe eight years old? And that was a cut-straight-across affair.

And I am not exactly suited to high-maintenance hairstyles.

[identity profile] tapedeck.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
Fringes are a high-maintenance thing. They need trimming every few weeks, are prone to not being net or tucked and get major fly-away.

I wouldn't get a fringe cut in for a million bucks. There's no /way/ I have that kind of patience.

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
Bah :( Well, I will have Words with my hairdresser and see if they have any advice as to an easier option, or if I should just keep getting it feathered slightly at the front.

And in the meantime I guess I can just...pin it!

You have to ignore my vastly inferior makeup 'skills', okay.

[identity profile] tapedeck.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the last person to judge make-up, trust me. I see so much of it that it's all a big 'whatever makes you happy makes me happy' blur.

Yes! I am pro-bangs! Even though I fail at my own, stupid curly hair. It is my feeling that on you bangs would be best evened out by a shorter cut overall, but you are the better judge of that.

Question: do you normally wear that much makeup or were you doing something makeupy? You look different, or, I'm crazy.

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
I quite like the length it is now -- when it's shorter it has to be rigorously straightened or else it poofs out into a triangle. But if I get it cut, which I'm planning to after Europe, I will probably get a few inches taken off.

Yeah, I was doing something makeupy. I told you I was bored. (Red lips and pyjamas! Not my most inspired combination.)

I've had a ... fringe ... my whole life except for about one unfortunate year when my hair was very long and it disappeared, revealing that I have a disproportionately large forehead, and it's never ever seemed high maintenance to me! What! I guess if you want it to look exactly the same way ALL the time, then yeah, it's difficult, but otherwise ... I cut my hair maybe every two months, you crazy people in comments.

Though I guess it doesn't look like on Jenny Lewis (http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/jenny.jpg).

[identity profile] spikeyboots.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
It is CUTE! Cute fringe!

I heart fringes, but I cannot wear them as my hair gets oily and sticks to my forehead. .. that was possibly too much information ... but it is the truth.

My housemate has a fringe, and as it gets longer, she just sweeps it to the side - it looks minxy.

I LIKE IT.

But part of my kneejerk like comes from the fact that you look very 1950s there, so if that is not what you are going for perhaps you should not do it.

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I will not be wearing that much makeup every day. I'm going to pin it like that for a few days and see if I like it.

[identity profile] twoskeletons.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
srs question deserves srs answer, especially when i have a draft proposal due in like 5 hours. WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY I AM ON LJ. i like what the fringe is doing in your pictures! 'cos okay see i have awkward growing-out bangs that are about the same length and I strive to do the sidesweep thing but it gets all disheveled and windswept pretty easily, and i also can't be assed to cut it. so. maintenance issue. do you use mousse?? me = hairproductphobic! my hair falls out enough as it is.

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really use any products, no, but...if my hairdresser told me to, I might. I like it in the picture! The problem would be getting a REAL fringe to do that, instead of long hair that has been cunningly pinned. Maybe I should just stick with the cunning pins.

[identity profile] areyoumymemmy.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, that is SUPER CUTE. I love side fringe on you! It looks very Audrey Hepburn. If you can handle the maintenance, I say go for it. I have semi-fringe hair right now (my fringe is sort of longer and swept to each side because I have cowlicks!) and I am a zero maintenance girl but it works out for me.

[identity profile] lo0o0ony-lauren.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never seen you before, so I've never seen you unfringed, but, um, I stand in favour! It looks pretty freaking cute. And I like your lipstick, too.

*laughs* Um, just imagine that instead of being swept-and-pinned, the hair has a normal boring side part and falls to either side of my face. Actually, imagine it is in a ponytail, because that's me normally.

[identity profile] a-white-rain.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I like your hair. lul

CUTEEEEEEEEE

wait, so you don't actually have bangs right now? or you do? because if you don't, YOU SHOULD TOTALLY GET THEM! *beams*

okay, back to talking to you on chat. god, I'm so spastic.
