I am having one of those listening experiences where every song on an album has a moment that makes you suddenly flick the volume dial on your speakers WAY UP so that you can better experience it. By the end of the album my neighbours might start to complain.
OH, SULTANS OF SWING. IT'S BEEN TOO LONG.
We had a Dealing With Bad News session at hospital today, which was...confronting. And very good for me, I think, in that I am being forced to realise that my way of dealing with distress (ie. wanting to be alone) is not how everyone deals with it. It's a pretty alien concept -- I tend to base novel emotional interactions on templates and rationality, and my personal template for strong emotion is that it's NOT something I want other people to get involved in. So I always feels as though I'm intruding unforgivably if someone reacts emotionally in my presence.
Time to get over that, Dr Fahye.
