So, um, that slightly pulled foot muscle sustained during the second performance of Med Revue might be a more serious injury than previously suspected, because I am currently in CRIPPLING PAIN after walking from Railway Square to Broadway, which is a piddling little distance, and I was wearing my Doc Marten Mary Janes and thick socks, possibly the most foot-friendly shoes I own. Hmm. I seriously doubt I have managed to break any bones in my foot simply by over-pointing it (which is what I did during the show, O WELL DONE ME) but this whole 'inability to walk' thing could get tedious. Good thing my dad's coming to visit for the weekend! Free orthopaedic consultancy FTW!

I am also feeling a little like I'm going to keel over and collapse, which could be a combination of fatigue and low blood sugar and god knows what else, but --

I TOOK BLOOD FROM A PERSON'S ARM TODAY

THAT'S RIGHT

I AM A PHLEBOTOMIST

-- so all things considered I am in a pretty good mood!

ETA: And also: I just found out that I passed my second RFA with an above-average mark, so my good mood can be upgraded to GREAT.

Ahhhhh, taking blood. What's it like from the other side of the needle?

I always enjoyed my role in torturing med students. (My veins are kind of special... so far in my life I've had blood specialists and anasthesiologists paged.) The two I had during my last hospital trip just looked at me all terrified and later I realized there's something kind of funny about a very, very sick patient comforting med students and trying to make them laugh so they relax >.>

We are all very nervous, and then we did it a few million times on the fake blood arms, and then on each other. I was lucky, I did it on a friend who had a really nice, obvious vein. It's...fun :D

I always thought it looked fun :D

What, NICE. That is SO COOL.

That is very cool. I tried to teach myself to do it in theory for a job interview I never got for job I obviously wasn't qualified for!

I remember something about palpating the the vein and keeping the bevel up....

yet another thing to add to my list of knowledge I will most likely never use :)

Good luck with the foot thing.

Yay! Yay for phlebotomy, only please keep it away from me. But also yay for examination passing :D
