Uh, first off, fair warning:

My life, a general representation

Photobucket

However! At the moment that situation is slightly different because I am in the tail end of a Week Off; we get those occasionally, but, like mice suffering from learned helplessness or a mild form of Stockholm's, we tend to waste them blinking in disbelief. This Week Off has been less like that than normal because of MED REVUE, which is the annual show produced and performed by the first-year medical students. It is wonderful and hectic and insane and I am so, so glad I did it, because I've made a large group of friends within my cohort -- it's hard to beat the bonding experience of pre-production week. Even if I (BAD CHOREOGRAPHER! BAD!) only learned the names of a few cast members, uh, yesterday. Anyway! We are performing next week, which is also the first week of Haematology, so if I am not around much then just assume I am either sticking needles into people at the hospital or losing my voice and destroying my upper back muscles at the theatre. (Srsly: my kingdom for a good back massage right now. Yikes.)

This afternoon I am going shopping for things that apparently everyone else in the universe owns, like black leggings and plain white T-shirts, because currently my costume list is 'jeans' and, while the Nude Skit is a time-honoured part of the Med Revue, I do not think it would be appropriate for me to perform in all five of my dance items while topless.

Socially...um...er...well, I'm going out to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] profound_poppy and some of her friends tonight, at what she assures me is the best peking duck restaurant in Sydney. And last night I went to a great combined birthday party for some of the cast members, and made some new friends (in the way that only alcohol + very noisy rooms requiring you to shout in each other's ears can facilitate the friendship process) who are doing biology research.

I had grand plans to watch a lot of TV this week, but they fell through due to life-eating things like exhaustion and parties and sleep (GLORIOUS SLEEP). I am reading White Teeth by Zadie Smith and I recommend it whole-heartedly to absolutely anyone, because it's engaging and funny and altogether wonderful, and Ms Smith has joined Donna Tartt and Jonathan Safran Foer in the ranks of those I wish to cheerfully murder for their ability to produce such a brilliant first novel.

Fannishly: I have two fics which I really really really SHOULD be working on but (in the grand tradition of holidays) my writing ability has dried up.

I am slightly addicted to Ma vie est tout a fait fascinante.

And really, I think that's it!

Questions from the floor?

ETA: Okay, I am only doing this because I am pretty damn sure that nobody on my flist is coming to Med Revue (except Nilru & Highly so they are to keep VERY QUIET about this, because otherwise I will be slaughtered for leaking material). We made some videos of small groups of us (there are ten couples in the actual dance) so that we could see who needs to improve what. The guy yelling out counts at the beginning is one of the other choreographers :D

Tango rehearsal -- look! it's me! dancing! (I'm the tall one in the red top.)

You look awesome!

I am home sick from work. I missed my Grade 5 singing exam due to a cold. I AM DEPRESSED, FAHYE, AND MAD AT MY IMMUNE SYSTEM.

Do you have any tried and true methods for getting rid of all the phlegm still in my nose?

OH CLAIRA :( Please get better! I...hmm, I usually use many tissues, a Vicks inhaler, and gallons of tea. That is my coping-with-a-cold strategy.
