band drama
So after orientation today (more on that to come later) a bunch of us ended up at the Manning Bar, and while in the queue for drinks I was gazing bemusedly at the list of upcoming gigs.
Me: Beirut!
Me: OH, IT'S *THAT* MANNING BAR.
In my defense, I was already kind of drunk by this point because the alumni association had been plying us with champagne and wine and nibbly things. But now I know where the Beirut gig is, and it's a five minute walk from my college, so score. Unfortunately my pleasure at this discovery was drowned in my disappointment at seeing IRON & WINE on the board right above SOLD OUT.
;_;
This is why I should actually pay attention to bands I like. I'm so accustomed to assuming that they'll never play anywhere near me that I never even bother to find out about gigs. IRON & WINE, MAN. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO GREAT.
However, there was no SOLD OUT sign underneath the gig notice for THE MOUNTAIN GOATS, so if I can find anyone to drag along with me, I think I'll get tickets for that.
