important question

Has anyone else seen The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya?

How much more fucking OTP does one get than 'I love you so much I'll unwittingly remake the world with you as the only constant'? And the FAIRYTALES and Asuhina sending an apology for catalysing Armageddon by making Haruhi jealous, and Koizumi's 'you haven't figured it out yet?' and Yuki communicating through the last data link and the closed spaces and the fact that they don't know if the world was recreated when the sun rose. AAAHHHHH. This kind of fiction does things to my mind and my heart and, most importantly, my writing-buttons.

Just...it started so strangely and took a while to cohere to the point where I could see why it was popular, but then I really got into the non-linear narrative and Haruhi's shamelessness and the CRACK and Koizumi's awesome SINGLE FACIAL EXPRESSION JUST LIKE SAI'S, THUS ICON, and the random cuts into fantasy/scifi and then the video-game scifi episode which was probably just a metaphor but you're not quite sure, and their MOVIE, and above all else, Kyon. KYON. With his wonderful, wonderful normality and his unabashed teenage-boyhood and his dry narration and Haruhi grabbing him by the tie nsdlsdahsshdk.

OH YEAH AND THEN KOIZUMI WAS RANDOMLY IN A PRODUCTION OF ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD AND I ALMOST SCREAMED.

AND THE SHARED DREAM. AND KYON FINALLY FIGURING IT OUT. AND THE PONYTAIL COMMENT LKEJAHDDHSDL.

Holy shit.

I want fic.

Actually, I want crossover fic with Ouran more than I want ANYTHING ELSE AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME, for great compare-and-contrast of Suzumiya Haruhi and Suou Tamaki and their ability to manipulate their respective realities in ways both literal and figurative.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to do the Haru Haru dance a few times. Ahem.

My friends [livejournal.com profile] spectralbovine and [livejournal.com profile] latropita are both watching that right now. I'm jealous.

I was very, very surprised by how into it I got. The first few episodes were nothing special, the pilot only makes ANY SENSE when taken in the context of later episodes, and the ordering is confusing. But it's only 14 episodes so it's easy to watch very fast, and it gets really fantastic by the midway point.

ahem ahem (http://realitylapse.com/videos/the-melancholy-of-haruhi-suzumiya.php)
